Dennis Cruz continues his standout run-of-form in 2021 with the release of his latest single, What U Doing. Soon-to-appear on his forthcoming album, Roots, the single is a collaboration with UK singer-songwritwer Leo Wood and includes a remix by iconic German house producer Mousse T.

Two worlds come together in perfect harmony, as the five-minute number gets underway with shimmering bell chimes and Leo’s soothing vocal offerings. Dennis’ influence soon arrives, taking the form of a punchy, four-four bassline whilst echoing synths purr intermittently in the background. Mousse T ́s 'Deep Shizzle' Extended Remix brings things to a feel-good close, with upbeat piano rolls residing atop euphoric chords to create a dancefloor cut that you can’t help but smile to.

"Ah Ya Albi" is a song originally performed by Egyptian singer Hakim. The song, which translates to "Oh My Heart", is a popular Arabic song known for its energetic and emotional style. This song is the best manifestation of the period when Arabic folk (known as shaabi) expressing itself through contemporary sounds. 

Hakim, often called "The Lion of Shaabi," played a key role in popularizing this genre globally, infusing it with contemporary beats while keeping its roots in Egyptian street culture. "Ah Ya Albi" stands out for its catchy melody, powerful vocals, and the raw, heartfelt expression typical of shaabi music.

In her own words....

I chose this track because I have always been captivated by the vibrant and mystical sounds of Middle Eastern music. As a DJ, I often perform at parties dedicated to Eastern electronic rhythms, one of which is held in Russia, in Orenburg, called Chastota 528. This track beautifully embodies the rich colors and soulful melodies of the East. When I first heard it, I was instantly inspired and felt a deep desire to transform it into an electronic version that would capture its essence and bring its magic to life on the dance floor.

We had the pleasure to get our hands on the soulful house jam "Sunday Shoutin'", released on 4th Floor / Defected in the year 2000 by JOHNNY CORPORATE, the New-Jersey born and bred, NYC and DC based DJ & producer duo consisting of Doug Smith & Richard Payton. 
The original, remixed by the likes of Eric Morillo and Harry "Choo Choo" Romero, sold over 30,000 copies back in the day and even made it into the UK pop charts. We love this track and have been playing our own vinyl copy so much that it's all scratched and warped now. :) Very excited to share our rework with you!
