Discovering Neon is a techno, deep house experiment.  The ever-present bass line is a delve into sound design while the entire song expands on several different synth voices.  The over arching theme is exploration chock full of sciencey goodness.

Discovering Neon

In the intro, a common cricket, often found throughout Japan, used to visit my bathroom during breaks. It was still a young one in spring, but it already had one large leg missing, I couldn't tell if it was born that way or lost it in an accident, but its struggling movements in the empty bathtub were truly heartrending. Wanting to help, I started leaving cabbage scraps in the tub. Eventually, I would catch glimpses of it enjoying the meal without disrupting its feeding. The passing summer saw it grow into a vibrant creature, bringing solace to my heart with its lively presence.

As autumn approached, I was taken aback by a loud, unfamiliar chirp I had never heard before. In a rush, I grabbed a recorder and captured almost two hours of its powerful voice as it clung to the cabbage, singing its heart out. When it finished, it returned through the drain, and that was the last time I saw it. I never came across it again. The recorded sound became a farewell song to me, filled with gratitude for the moments of healing it had provided.

This year, a new visitor, a young cricket, has arrived, I offer cabbage and pray for its safe growth...
