I love these two crazy dudes, they're a little like me in a way, and they made some killer tunes in the 80's. Like this one =) The original John Luongo remix ran at 9:35 but it was really difficult to play out as the drums kept running all over the place. I managed to keep the first 16 bars of this edit pretty constant at 122 BPM and the end lead-in and break as well - it's a wee bit long at 12:23 (ha ha) but it's good for those times when you need a smoke break (given the way most clubs and bars are these days...heh) pardon the scratchy bits in the drop....

D’abord jeune DJ et programmateur radio puis organisateur de soirées où fêtards et mélomanes s’y retrouvent en parfaite symbiose, Malcolm a aujourd’hui élu domicile derrière les platines du festival Crossover, événement estampillé Panda Events (Plages, Pistes, Dunes Électroniques, Martizik…), ainsi qu'à la direction artistique du label Global Warming. 

Le label a déjà annoncé une série de plusieurs EP pour 2015, à la frontière des genres mais toujours façonnés pour clubs transpirants, fêtards curieux et mélomanes éclectiques. 

Le premier a pointé le bout de son nez le 3 février dernier, composé d'un morceau de The Old Boys (side projet de Orestt de l'écurie I'm A Cliché, et Guillaume Funel le programmateur de Radio Monaco), ainsi que d'un edit de l'anglais Andrew Clarke (un des grands dj disco/rock actuels de l'ile, soutenu par Dimitri From Paris ou Greg Wilson entre autres…). Le premier EP du label Global Warming pose le ton en jetant un pavé dans la mare des tendances électroniques actuelles.

Old time friend of the label and major artist of the downtempo scene of the South of France, Fred Berthet is signing Global Warming latest release. Much respected for his works as DJ Steef, Copyshop or Troublemakers (with DJ Oil & Arnaud Taillefer), he delivered us two downtempo acid jams, filled with sexual tension, seeping walls and slow orgy. It also features remixes from our all-time favorites Italian balearic band, Mushrooms Project, who sends us back a superb organic and solar vision or the original track and on the opposite, Global Warming’s founder Malcolm (@mmaallccoollmm), signing a bestial and deliciously obscure cover. Malcolm Mitchell’s Global Warming Records is a self-proclaimed outlet for “discoholics” and multi-cultural geeks. The three projects they’ve released are a collection of songs emanating a cosmic, often tribal, synth heavy analog disco sound. The latest release from Marseille based producer Fred Berthet (aka. DJ STEEF), an old time friend of the label and major artist of the downtempo scene in the South of France, fits a similar mold. The EP, similar to its artwork, is filled with a slow, sexual tension heightened by slow, driving rhythms and hypnotic acid bass lines.

Included in the EP is a remix from Italian balearic duo, Mushrooms Project (Giorgio Giri and Marco Lentano), who have crafted a superbly organic and deeply drugged out mid tempo burner that seems to call on numerous Ibiza sunrises for inspiration. Freaky, mesmerizing synth work take the listener on a trip to acid islands where steady bass permeates through thick fog over glistening percussive sequences. Its driving rhythms make the track feel faster than it is. This is a much appreciated form of trickery in down-tempo productions. Slow burners that make you dance hard are not easy to make.

The EP, and 100 limited edition copies of the naughty cover art illustrated by Ben Hubbard and printed on 420 x 594 mm poster, 250g heavy matte paper is available to purchase via GWR’s Bandcamp page.
