Q1. How and where was the mix recorded? Could you tell us about the idea behind the mix?
I recorded it at home using a turntable, an e&s mixer and ableton. I wanted to listen through to music I had come across recently and dig into the tracks deeper. I leaned more into the trippier sounding tracks with really nice sonics and "world-building" characteristics.

ターンテーブル、E&Sミキサー、abletonを使って自宅で録音しました。最近出会った音楽を聴いて、より深くトラックを掘り下げたいと思ったんだ。トリッピーなサウンドで、音質が良く、「世界観がある」楽曲に重点を置きました。

In their words:  I’d say it’s heady with a lot of range. Definitely tapped into the spiritual realm with lots of dance and rhythms but also moments to sit and kinda reflect on the world. Every mix I make, song I choose to play or set I I’m booked for is almost always going to give the energy that I’m feeling about the world, culture and politics. Lots of fight and lots of love cuz love is what we’re fighting for. 

Bio for me, ummm… I’m Afro Caribbean born in NYC w/roots in London and Miami. I come from a musical background and have been in and around sound boy culture since youth w/ roots in dancehall, jungle and pretty much all sounds of the Afro Caribbean Latin
diaspora. I started djing vinyl while working in nightlife, producing shortly after and haven’t looked back.

This time on BiR, we’ve received a Lovely mix! We first met when Bump into Store had a pop-up at Dr. Morse, and she got "Nippon Journey"(ZINE)!! She pinned all the spots from the zine on Google Maps, and through her travels in Japan, she encountered many wonderful connections.
It feels like I was able to play a small role in linking people together, which is something I deeply value in what I do. We're so happy that she contributed a mix for us!!
One day, let’s have a toast at Nakam’s shop while talking about music!

This mix is filled with music that I was listening to when I was visiting Osaka in November last year. I met the lovely Akane and the boss of Bump into Radio in Naarm/Melbourne where I bought a zine of Japanese recommendations from her that I took with me. Through her connections and recommendations I was reunited and introduced to some of the special music community of Osaka. This mix is about how through our music communities, the world is actually very small! 
I dedicate it to my friends Akane and Nakam (FunTricks Records in Osaka)

Bridget Small’s selections are a representation of a thoughtful ear. She is always armed with a bag of versatility yet an inclination to present leftfield downtempo, homespun pop and long lost sun-tinged gems. These tendencies have found her sharing tracks on the weekly show ‘Synthesize Me’ at PBS as well as recently playing Meredith interstitials and NTS Naarm.

This VA brings together electronic artists from around the world, united in solidarity with the people of Gaza. In the face of silence and inaction from our governments, we believe it’s our responsibility, as artists and human beings, to contribute however we can.

SawtPalestine is an independent association founded by Ahmed Jome, a Palestinian based in Marseille, with the mission of building a bridge between Gaza and the World. Their work focuses on supporting orphans and displaced families in Gaza, especially those with no contact or aid from the outside.
On the ground, a local team operates daily to provide direct financial, emotional, and recreational support to children and families in need. Long-term, SawtPalestine aims to build an orphanage.

Since its creation, the association has also launched a traveling Palestinian kitchen, collaborated with activist networks and artists from different fields, and organized events to raise awareness of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
