McNulty is the DJ project of Mark McNulty, a New York City-based music blogger and the former editor at The Rust Music. Mark has spent several years following and promoting underground electronic music from coast to coast. More recently, he's been curating instrumental hip-hop through The Rust's Lo-Fi Sundays blog column and monthly Brooklyn party. As a DJ, McNulty explores the intersection of these two distinct yet similar styles of music. Lounge Sessions 002: McNulty

Humans spend roughly one third of our lives asleep. Although we fundamentally understand that we need to sleep to survive, we know little about one of the quintessential aspects of sleep - dreams - and we invest relatively little time or money to try and learn more.

Rapid eye movement sleep or REM sleep is a unique phase of sleep in mammals and birds accompanied by vivid and highly visual dreams, and characterized physically by random rapid movement of the eyes, low muscle tone throughout the body, and irregular heart rate, blood flow, breathing rate, and body temperature.

This 45-minute mix is intended to evoke the peculiar, rapidly-changing, yet deeply personal and mystical nature of dreams. It's the first in a series of mixes or "vibes" that I'll share periodically. Thank you for listening.

Marley Schwartz has Music running through his veins. Influenced heavily by Reggae as a child, Marley started to grow a passion for Hip-Hop. For our 38th installment of the Rusted Rhythms series, Rust family favorites pheel. and parkbreezy have resurrected their Featherbed set to showcase loads of original tracks and a few choice flips and remixes. Co-founders of the all.Lo label, and the brains behind the Morning Coffee project, these two producer/dj's have their fingers on the pulse of trip-hop's many varieties, creating their signature blends through an infusion head-nod fundamentals with ample servings of saturated bass weight.

Right from the jump, they zero in on the vibe of the hour, delivering smooth cuts of collaged melodies and brackish drum breaks. Their own individual styles meet at the nexus of broken beats and juiced-up sub frequencies, balancing the high of a listening experience with the pull of a physical experience. They were even gracious enough to mix in a Groovsauce track, courtesy of their live project with Thought Process.
