Latest Gobstopper signee rAHHH follows fellow newcomer Orlando into Mr. Mitch’s blossoming network of inspired new skool club producers with his debut EP, ‘Ones’. 

Having already found favour with Ryan Hemsworth on OVO Radio, rAHHH also collaborated with Lorenzo BITW on ’27’ — a track released by Branko’s Enchufada label earlier this summer — but the bright and bubbly ‘Ones’ serves as his debut record proper. 

Myriad influences run true right across the five-track EP, with sugary-sweet opener ‘Dog Days’ an ode to glossy, futuristic electro-pop, title-track ‘Ones’ tapping into percussive, sweetboy RnB and luxurious, dancehall-inflected ‘Lexus Riddim’ zeroing in on the last days of summer. 

A testament to Mr. Mitch’s ever-evolving vision for the label that is, now in its seventh year, rAHHH’s ‘Ones’ offers a fascinating look inside the mind of another Gobstopper producer starlet.

With musical trends always changing and evolving around us, it’s a testament to the real quality of The Shapeshifters to have sustained a successful career in house music for over 10 years now. After already lighting up dance floors with a recut package of their own anthem ‘Lola’s Theme’ earlier this year, and with Max now absent from production & DJ duties, Simon steps out on his own and returns to Glitterbox Recordings with the brilliant ‘When Love Breaks Down’. This masterpiece has it all; from the funky bassline to joyous brass sections, topped up by warm Rhodes piano and coated in sensuous vocals from London’s own Teni Tinks. ‘When Love Breaks Down’ is another timeless track which solidifies The Shapeshifters place as out-and-out legends of the scene.

New to the NAAR stable, In:State & Guili make their debut in stunning style. Visitoz is a straight forward techno affair, as bumping as it is surprising. Using a deceptively simple gated arp and horn to dazzlingly complex effect. 
The track is potentially the most peak time NAAR has gone yet, and it's an incredibly welcome addition to their canon. On remix duty Lauer takes a hold of the main arpeggio and turns it monstrous in the style of Liasions Dangeruese, yet balances this with his trademark lightness of touch and his ear for a heart wrenching synth line, creating an instant classic that feels like it was beamed straight in from 1986. 
"Plus 1" has been sent from a parallel dimension where the evolution of music took a turn so different that Proto Garage stands where Proto House should be. The track has the step and swagger of the most compelling end of the 2 step movement, but balances that with the surprising naivete and earnestness found in Italo, EBM and early forays from Chicago. Finishing things off, Lizards return to the label for a welcome encore following last years success with their 1st release, Tanni.

Gobstopper alumni Loom returns to the label for his third outing since debuting with ‘Grade’ back in 2014. 

Now a founding member of club collective and party, Acid Fantasy — a popular club night he has helped run for the past year alongside Akito and Nervous Horizon duo TSVI and Wallwork — Loom’s palette has continued to expand and evolve, as evidenced by sparkling new record, ‘London Ambient’. 

Where ‘Grade’ and 2016 follow-up ‘European Heartache’ functioned around experimental grime tropes and fractious melody, ‘London Ambient’ unfurls broader, complex landscapes and sounds, inspired by discovering ‘so much new music’ working in London record shops over the last two years. “I’ve been introduced to so much new stuff, music I never would have heard before”, Loom explains, “…and these new influences gave me loads more drive to start making music”. 

Written with a wide-eyed sense of discovery, ‘London Ambient’ flexes between futuristic, sci-fi soundscapes (‘Heavy Glow’), sprawling acid-y club trips (‘Aacccid’) and sub-heavy, rave breaks (‘Saturday Job At Laser Quest’). These myriad sounds, bookended by the lush ‘Heavy Glow’ and dreamy, bubbling soundscape, ‘Forever’, compound Loom’s new-found sense of discovery — a fitting motif for a label that continues to grow and re-mould with every release.
