He started to be part of the movement in 90's, in the directions of Acid jazz, Nu jazz over Nu Funk to Deep House and nowadays is still enjoying it being so deep ("Duboko" on Croatian) with his music.

Duboko [Journey Series]

Today we welcome a name that has become synonymous with Toronto’s dance music community: Borzoo. With over 16 years of experience behind the decks, Borzoo has had his hands in just about every aspect of the industry. Whether it’s playing Toronto’s internationally acclaimed Electric Island concert series, or acting as both owner and resident DJ at the city’s beloved and former Cabal, Borzoo’s contribution to the scene has been paramount. 

It was during his years of study in Dubai when Borzoo began exploring the world of DJing. Working part time for a nightlife magazine, he began to network his way through the tightly-knit circle of industry insiders. Soon, Borzoo found himself holding down the opening slot at many of the major clubs. Fast forward to today, and Borzoo has enjoyed gigs at AIM Montreal, ADE in Amsterdam, and a majority of Toronto’s nightclubs including CODA, Cabal and Nest to name a few. 

His sound is always evolving. Whether it’s downtempo electronica or big, progressive breaks, Borzoo notes “every environment and vibe requires a different sound.” The mix he delivers for us here today comes from his opening set at Aether, an underground club in the heart of Budapest. Listen as Borzoo exhibits a sincere understanding for what an opening slot entails. With calm composure, he delivers 2 hours of gradual progression, pulling back to tease his listeners, while setting the tone for the journey that lies ahead — a task that could only be achieved by a seasoned DJ such as himself. As summer slows its pace, the cosmic energy invites us into a deeper state of reflection. Thus, we were thrilled when Toronto artist Sam Zenn approached us with the idea to create an exclusive ambient set.

“Life can be very challenging at times,” he explained. “It’s great to have a chill and uplifting sound to lay back, relax and/or meditate with, especially since nothing connects stronger with our true inner beings other than music… food for the soul!”

Sam Zenn needs little introduction. As a DJ, he is a true chameleon, adapting to any dance floor put before him. His rich, hypnotic sound and technical dexterity behind the decks makes him stand out amongst fellow peers. The only attributes that shine brighter than his skill set are his warm, genuine demeanour and humble stance. It’s no wonder that many of the country’s top venues have booked Sam, including Toronto’s Footwork and CODA, Vancouver’s Gorg-o-mish and Celebrities, and festivals like Bestival Toronto and Vujaday in Barbados.
