German artist Meyer put out a steady stream of artfully designed melodic electronic sounds in the last year. The audio sculptor releases most of them on his own label where he is constantly searching out fresh inspiration and evolving his moving grooves. The fact he plays live as well as DJing feeds into his improvised approach to music and lends each tune a feeling of real musical freedom.

His latest 'Random Hill' is a darkly alluring and deep house sound. It's sparse and eerie, with distant percussion bringing a mechanical feel as a spoken word male vocal muses on the morals of life. Tension builds as synths grow from wispy to more dramatic and eventually sweep the dance floor off its feet and to up above the stars.

Parisian Hanna Haïs, who remixed 'Could Not Exist' here back in summer and has had support from Black Coffee, then steps up. She flips the track into a spine-tingling piece of hypnotic house. The delicate synths and warm bass warp around each other to smooth and serene effect. Juli Lee is another remixer and label regular who brings her famously stylish sounds to this EP. Her remix is a subtly uplifting and playful one with slinky rhythms and lithe synths. It's infectious, piano-laced body music with an enchanting vocal and nimble bass that really locks you in. Last of all, final label friend Ivo Deutschman offers a moody and atmospheric minimal vocal mix and also a glitchy instrumental mix which completes the package.

This is a rich offering of electronics for all moments in the night.

Goeran Meyer's 'Alone With My Thoughts' is another fresh EP that continues his exceptional recent run.

The assured German producer and MYR label head always brings a touch of class to his music. He's an audio sculptor with a cinematic sound and a knack for meaningful melody. He's been busy of late with a superb string of singles that continues again here.

First up is 'Complete Control' which soothes the soul with its lush and languid synth lines rising and falling over streamlined beats. It's a track to get lost in and gaze off to the distance as the melancholic moods take over. The superb 'Observe' is more glitchy and textured, with undulating bass and distant starry twinkles run through with more intense synth lines that bring subtle tension in a futuristic fashion.

'Mindset' (Instrumental Edit) is another brilliantly deep thinking track with carefully sequenced arps and wispy pads dancing around a sparse pattern of off-grid drums. It's an immersive and cinematic experience which then also comes as a Vocal Edit. This version takes off on metallic tech house drums and is overlaid with a spoken word monologue that evokes thoughts of space travel next to intricate and delicate acid lines.

Meyer shows his class yet again with this Alone With My Thoughts EP.
