Sydney-born Scotty Cal arrives on MYR Records with two tidy tracks that showcase his broad take on house music.

Scotty Cal is a mainstay on the Australian scene who has established himself with residencies at Sydney’s most coverted parties such as Label Warehouse, Manly Wharf Bar and Blueprint entertainment. He now lives in Bali where he co-runs the Escape to Bali concept, a sought-after monthly house and techno event at various locations from Uluwatu to Seminyak and Canggu. He is a fast emerging producer whose solo debut ‘Mothership’ reached #17 on the Australian ARIA club charts and most recent EP “Futurism” gained attention from the likes of Jamie Jones, Paco Osuna & Audiojack. His sound goes from deep to tech and covers plenty in between.

First up here is 'Hypnotise', an organic and warm house cut with a fat bottom end and infectious claps. Twinkling melodies get you gazing skyward while well-placed vocal samples and silky pads bring a humid and atmospheric vibe. It's a characterful cut that pairs depth with groove dynamics. 'Words' is a totally different proposition with old-school breaks powering it along. The mood is dark, with edgy percussion and snapping hits making for a prickly groove as a plunging bassline drills down under the mysterious cosmic chords.

These are two very different but equally stylish tracks from this fast-rising star.

Independent music label MYR proudly announces the release of the third EP of 2023: "Shadows of the Night", is another release from versatile artist, DJ, producer and live act Goeran Meyer. Following his impressive releases "Alone with my Thoughts" and "Random Hill", Goeran once again takes us on a profound and driving journey through his creative musical world. The EP includes three amazing mixes: a vocal mix, an instrumental mix and a vocal edit by Mario Navajo.

The journey through "Shadows of the Night" begins slowly and mysteriously with a percussive intro consisting of finely tuned drum settings. After some breathtaking breaks, paired with stirring African vocals, the track gradually builds up into an analogue sound piece. This is where the varied synthesizer and arpeggio build-ups kick in, giving the track an energetic and driving character. The pads and basslines blend together perfectly and lead the listener through a variety of moods. Finally, the track opens up and unfolds a mix of deepness and energy that sweeps the listener along and encourages them to dance.

The collaboration with Mario Navajo makes this release an amazing overall package. Together, the two artists created a remix in a friend's studio called Limetree Studios that features unique sound structures and Mario's engaging vocals. This remix rounds off the EP perfectly and makes you want more.

"Shadows of the Night" is an EP that takes us on a journey through different moods while maintaining its deep and driving character. This release is a refreshing and welcome change of pace that is perfect for the summer months and will leave you wanting more energetic music.

Cie embarks on a new sonic expedition with "Adventures II," the successor to the
original journey, continuing the musical quest with great intensity and energy.
As the music begins, “Reichenstein” rises on the horizon like a majestic mountain

Hey, it’s me again. Back with a new mix.

After my slightly emo message with my last recording, I just want to say—I’m still figuring out where techno is heading, and more importantly, where my place is in that journey. A lot of the melodic techno producers and DJs I used to love are drifting toward what I’ll call the Afterlife sound—you know, the trancy vocal-heavy side of melodic techno. Personally, that’s not really my vibe.
But here’s the upside: it’s also opening up new doors for me. In my previous mix, I included a track by Andhim—I’ve been following these guys for years. They always bring a unique blend of influences into their sound, techno, house and afro house. This time, I want to give some love to the crew behind Scenarios. The collective includes Emanuel Satie, Maga, Tim Engelhart, and Sean Doron. I’ve been buying tracks from Satie and Engelhart on Beatport for quite a while now. Their house-infused take on melodic techno and house really speaks to me. That’s the kind of sound that makes me excited again.
This mix also flirts with electro and hypnotic techno—just small touches to fit in the mix, but enough to hit a nerve in the best way.
What I’ve put together here brings all of that into one mix—balanced, intentional, and (I hope) seamless. Different subgenres flowing into each other naturally. At the end of the day, good music is good music. And this is the kind of techno I love.
