Stories of Stardust

I made this song by collecting as many tones and phrases that had never resonated with me before. But I'm not self-righteous. I think my inspiration came from the sound design of many artists on SoundCloud. I'm indulged in the feeling that music can be formed even if I ignore my preferences.

Longing for the unknown (304)

Piece for damaged music box and out of tune acoustic guitar with two strings missing. 

I hadn't really known the old lady. The bonfire-guitar hanging on her wall was dusty and in poor condition. A matchbox-sized music box huddled on a shelf amongst books and letters, trying to play “The Third Man” correctly with some of it’s tongues missing. I looked around. All these remnants of a life would soon disappear. I had not known her. Her name was Eve.

I added an ambient guitar technique at 3.06 minutes, called ''Glissando'' that I picked up through listening to the great band ''Gong'' and the exceptional Guitarist ''Steve Hillage''. This effect was developed by Daevid Allen, Gong,
by means of using a smooth metal bar (tremolo arm) in a sweeping motion
across guitar strings with delay fx and other ambient fx.

What does an AI do when the purposes and priorities it has built itself around are no longer relevant in the world? ...  

JaSON has served the new world for many human lifetimes. 
Arla and the refugees are now only distant memories, for most of the world,  but the civilisation they helped to found thrives and grows, just as they promised it would... 

and now..after so many years....a vanishingly faint, but familiar voice is calling somewhere from the far edges of the dark  ....

Well laid down an enthralling, fast-paced, sweaty-eyed dancefloor track, calling it an open collab. Stonerjazz picked it up, marrying it to his expressive voice and instruments. As the ancient art of maieutic (look it up) serendipity (look this one up as well) would have it, Jeff and I had just finished an amazing poem which finely expressed what he heard in Well's sound. I can only guess how many hours he spent adding this, fine-tuning that, getting the balance right. In the end it sat there, all groomed in its weekday suit and asked to go out and play. Yeah, why don't you do that? (That's how jo tells the story at least).

My good and dear friend Jo Richter and I have been practicing a form of commando Free association poetry for a little bit now, Firing multiple replies to each others words across the void, rapidly --This Poem is one such project-- Initially done lightning Fast and then refined and modified for lyrical Flow and meaning-- To further complicate the process, i with Jo's encouragement used these word and some Sounds from my deepmind 6 to answer an open collaboration with music by our friend Well aka Hakan- (That's what Jeff says).

A Place I’ve Never Known

What a great place Soundcloud is !  I can honestly say I never imagined there were so many talented and generous artists, composers and producers,  to be found in one place!  It's been my very great pleasure to meet and collaborate with some of you, already, out there in the WWW,  and I hope many more in the future! 

I've written and recorded music since I was a teenager  (... that's a long time ago!!) and about half the tracks posted here are purely my own work. I also experimented, for a while,  with A.I. supported music, which I used to help build up a Sci Fi "concept album" (for those that remember them!) titled "Stories of Stardust", released 26th Feb 2025.  

A.I music can be a divisive topic, but I've no wish to use it as a replacement for human musical talent, and going forward I'm back to  working  with real people again. That's where the magic is to be found!  Which brings me to....

Collab is ALWAYS welcome!!  In fact it's my favourite way to work - check out my Collabs playlist for some recent examples!  Really enjoyed working with these talented artists!!   

For me the collab journey is only just starting so please (please)  gimme a shout if you think we could work together in the future!
