Expert Bouncers signals the return of Stevie R to his imprint Inside Out Records, working with longtime collaborator and modular synthesis expert TAOMA. The EP starts off with Orbit carrot, a high-energy, left-field disco track with modular experiments, heavily destroyed vocal samples and a sense of musical freedom balanced with maturity that is characteristic of Stevie R’s recent releases. No-holding back remixes by “Intergalactic house” legend Man Power and peak-time expert Freudenthal complete the first part of this EP. Sequential biscuits is a wonky collection of modular acid lines produced in the studio during a late night jam, and re-worked in a slow, percussion based dub by Parisinos.

That Espacio Cielo is definitely one of our favourite Indie Dance/Dark Disco labels is not a surprise at all. Curated by Parissior (SXDNS206), the Spanish imprint has been opening the interdimensional gates of this “new” scene not only to established artists (K-Effect, Azaria, Daniel Monaco, Andreas Rund, Celestino, Daniel Monaco aka Disco Mortale, Futuristant, and GUYD, just to name a few), but also to skilled newcomers (U-Msk, Cannibal Coconuts, Hyman Bass, Pan-Opt, and 9Claws, also just to name few). For its 19th release (considering EPs, singles, compilations, edit series, and free downloads), Espacio features JG Outsider, known for his previous works as 2 Rare People. “Back To Earth” brings four solid originals plus two awesome remixes by Cannibal Coconuts and label boss himself.

We were asked to premiere one of the most interesting tracks of the EP: “Deep In” is a 105-BPM theme that introduces itself with a haunting vocal hook accompanied by an ominous bassline. The threatening synth stabs and vibrant acid layer complete the highlights combo of this macabre and scary downtempo piece. When you press play, it is advisable to turn on the lights. Differently from brave dinosaurs, you may not be used to such a dark and sinister atmosphere. We come from space, we know the drill.

Review: Mexican producer Alex Aguayo comes to Spanish label Golden Soul with an EP that packs two tracks in a total of five mixes. In its original form, 'Time Travel' itself is a hazy, pulsing affair that blends influences from nu-disco and progressive house and simply oozes sunshine, while Cosmic Sumo boss Andrea Rucci turns in an even more euphoric remix. 'Wake', meanwhile, is an energetic, Italo-inspired, trance-tinged cut that's available in techy, throbbing Original, hi-octane Alberto Melloni Remix or slowed-down 'n' sleazed-out JB Dizzy Remix flavours, with the latter rub the EP standout for this reviewer.

Mårten Attling Aka Mindbender started producing in the late eighties and quickly became a prolific figure in the Stockholm club scene. He was dj’ing all over and putting down the hours in the studio to learn the craft and he has a long career as a producer and musician with releases on R&S Records in Belgium, Apollo Records and Swedish Ohm Records, to mention a few. When Redbull Music recently listed the 15 most influential songs in early Swedish techno & rave, Mårten was included as a producer or otherwise involved in five of them.  When he is not making musci he runs the label 'When Disco Goes Wrong' together with Janne 'Högt I Tak' Berglund.
