일본을 홈그라운드로 활동하는 그녀는 디제이뿐 만 아니라 밴드 뮤지션, 파티 오거나이저, 프로듀서로 다방면에 걸쳐 활동하고 있다. 종종 한국에서도 플레이하고 있으며, 3월에 서울에서 다시 한번 그녀의 라이브셋을 볼 수 있다.

GOLMOKGIL Mixtape #33 - YonYon

Just ahead of a landmark 50th EP release, Catz ‘N Dogz’s Pets Recordings turn to Johan Cederberg aka HNNY for a special five track release that very much invites us deep into the off kilter world of the revered Swedish producer. 

Before now HNNY - preferably pronounced “honey” - has won himself many fans with curious and quirky releases on labels including Studio Barnhus, Let’s Play House and Local Talk. Producing house but with a charming sense of melody, a great ear for a sample and an irresistible sense of groove, he is a firm DJ and dancer favourite all across Europe, and for good reason. 

Opening the EP is ‘Happy Happy House House’, a lazy, beachy cut awash with sun-kissed melody and trip hop grooves. Swaying gently to and fro, it’s an immediately soothing track before ‘Brasilian Sound’ is as Latin as you would expect from the title: it's a percussive, summery, atmospheric jaunt though up-tempo and feel-good house that's littered with distant whistles, the sound of kids playing in the park and a variety of loveable instruments. ‘Fresh Laundry’ then drops into a much slower and more purposeful groove - stoned drums and a distant bassline unfold lazily before big wind instruments begin tooting up top. It’s human, imperfect and full of keys that imbue it with the joys of spring.

On the flip, ‘Fruktstund’ is another adult lullaby with colourful, cartoony instrumentals, angular grooves and plenty of organic textures, whilst closer ‘Yogalates’ is much the same with its big xylophones, joyous piano chords, rubbery kicks and generally disarming sense of playfulness. 

Spring is just round the corner but it feels so much closer with these enchanting new cuts from HNNY.

HNNY - Fresh Laundry

She would always lose herself completely after getting into something new. It started with collecting cassette tapes of all kinds, then in early 2000, she fell in love with electronic music as she started visiting clubs.

어릴적부터 좋아하는것에 유난히 깊게 빠져들던 그녀는 초등학교 시절부터 카세트테이프를 사모으며 여러 장르의 음악들을 즐기다가, 2000년도 초반 클럽씬을 접하면서 자연스레 일렉트로닉 음악쪽으로 더 깊이 빠져들었다.

Saved Records welcome Berlin based producer Rampa onto the label with the quietly beguiling yet wildly rhythmical “Potty.” The Keinemusik honcho is never one to follow trends and he delivers a wonderfully unique and bewitching Saved debut.

A slowly evolving track, “Potty” keeps much of its tension and drama enveloped in its mechanical rhythms, only revealing its full extent in the latter moments of the track. The complex rhythm structures are ever present, driven by a marching, scuffed beat that struts throughout the entire track and supported by jangling kitchen sink percussion, skipping kicks and shuffling drums. Subtle melodies and lush, rolling basslines occasionally wash over the top as stretched pads inject that palpable tension. “Potty” is full of tight energy and muscle but it is a nuanced sense of power that grabs your attention cerebrally rather than forcing you into submission. A deft production that shrouds you in a fever without ever letting you know its intentions, “Potty” is in a mold totally of its own.
