“‘서울시티비트’는 ‘한국 시티팝’을 발굴하고 있습니다. 시티팝이 일본에서 파생된 음악이지만, 우리 대중가요도 일본 영향을 많이 받아 자연스럽게 발전된 부분이 있다고 봅니다. 하지만 일본 시티팝과는 궤를 달리하는 흥미로운 부분들이 존재하는데요, 마치 엔카와 트로트같은 같지만 다른 미묘한 지점들입니다. 요즘 음악이야 해외 팝들과 거의 차이가 없을 정도로 높은 완성도를 보여주지만 과거의 Old K-pop에 스며있는 ‘뽕’이라 부르는 그 느낌을 참 좋아합니다. 제가 선곡한 음악을 듣고 아버지의 오래된 자동차에서 나는 모과냄새같은 노스텔지어가 자연스럽게 떠오르면 좋겠습니다. “

“I focus primarily on Korean city pop. While it was influenced by Japanese city pop, Korean music has evolved in its own unique direction—similar to how trot differs from enka. These subtle distinctions are what make Korean city pop so fascinating. Today’s K-pop is polished and internationally competitive, but I’m especially drawn to that old-school Korean “bbong” flavor—a distinct emotional essence. My hope is that when people hear the tracks I curate, it brings back nostalgic memories—like the scent of quince lingering in an old car your dad used to drive.“
