"No distance left to run" was a documentary about one of go nogo's all-time faves Blur, but the quote on those Brit Pop greats leading into "Caravan" is just a minor detail in the musical picture of the track. The far greater woop comes from the crunch of the broken beat pattern mixed with a brawl-able chorus. Though that is one of Brit Pop's greatest achievement, it has yet not been accompanied by such shimmering organ-arpeggios, slamming half time signature or that many guitar styles wrapped up in a 5 minute execution. The joyous mood is juxtaposed by the topic of mass migration. The story being told is from the perspective of those who feel overrun, deprived of their comfort zone, not knowing how to deal with the self-inflicted chaos that they have to face.

Published as a single with remixes on Emerald & Doreen in 2013, "And The Devil 2" has found a lot of listeners already. Serving as the opener of the album "Main Course", it was the only classic song whose story was not to told to the wide audience envisaged, as go nogo saw more potential in their "beloved one"... The mighty guitar chords which set the dark tone for the not so satanic tune are dissolved into an electrified update. The synth-studded approach boasts a bouncier beat, arpeggios, pad sounds and deeper basement. The story that evolves around the tune is the religious concept of good and evil that is beyond ridicule, because it is the concept of the human being projected onto a fictional character who is not only with us but who is a human trait. So the whole prospect of escaping human nature by being righteous and zealous is self-betrayal.

Style of Sound editor John Noi recently travelled to Berlin to spend an evening out with the girls with two tasks in mind. 

First, he wanted to find out what a typical day of theirs looks like. And second, he wanted find out what songs made up the soundtrack of their lives.

And why the journey all the way to Germany? 

He’d heard from several sources that Emerald and Doreen exude awe-inspiring happiness, and he wondered if the music they listened to had anything to do with their state of being, which of course, he found out to be totally true.

The results of this excursion were documented in a 77-minute mix that transports listeners to 18 Emerald & Doreen moments, moments which defined this special evening and ultimately helped explain the meaning of happiness. 

Looking closely at the 18 songs that make up the mix, John discovered that happiness in life does not come from listening to a single music genre. 

Instead, he realised hapiness evolves from listening to a combination of different styles whether it be techno, house, disco, indie dance, soul, hiphop, industrial, etc that creates true bliss — a hallmarks of the Emerald & Doreen label and the Style of Sound Vol.3.

Style of Sound Vol. 3: Emerald & Doreen Berlin Mix

8 diverse remixes for the score of the Mystery/Horror movie Thief Someday You Will Pay are now available. otooto22 (Yuta Ouchi) from Japan made a loop from a sample of Darkness Beyond and added sounds like click glitch and cutups. Kay Barton from Heidelberg made a Dance House piece out of Moods 1. go nogo moves straight into 70ties style midtempo funkysoul that sounds like Bobby Womack has met LCD Soundsystem. Mannheim based DJ and producer LOOM added Techno creepers from outer space reaching out to your brain. Noise is Silence is Noise helped The Pale One to become more mysteriously and strange. The experimental HipHop duo Integral Breaks from Leverkusen create dopebeats and soundscapes for Silent Observer by the use of analogue hardware samplers. Followed by Geargrinds Darkness Beyond not remixed but totally covered on analogue synthesizer hardware. The final chapter comes from Japans DJ Hitch (Hisano Michiya) who took a walk with a can of beer after a long night while recording the environmental noise. Back home he started the Moods 2 Island remix using analogue equipment and a laptop.

Musically this upbeat rump shaker is equally rocking as its pedecessor, but instead of a wall of sound, you'll listen to a much lighter Brit Pop meets Electro Pop vibe.

Spinning the idea to marry songwriting with dancefloor qualities, it was time for Markus 'Fred' Scholl to open another chapter in his musical career. Together with befriended guitarist Eric, go nogo came to existence as a project that does convey the roots of the singer and composer. Influenced by the time of being a drummer in a group that dug the Madchester sound, go nogo has a touch of the late eighties and early nineties Britisch indiepop scene. Together with his knack for electronic music and various influences that he draws from his huge record collection, Markus ‚Fred’ Scholl creates something different with every song.  "Mr. go nogo" lives in Berlin, working as a show host for the radio station BLN.FM and on various other projects. Eric is co-owners of Emerald and Doreen Recordings together with Markus Schneider from The Robot Scientists.
