Mixing up modern tracks, classic disco and some of his own productions, Frankie plays a party set of extended mixes, kicking off with his and Eric Kupper’s sumptuous arrangement of Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff. Taking in original disco with Lou Rawl’s “You’ll Never Find A Love Like Mine”, the soulful, gospel tinges are put up against the tougher elements and classic pianos  of Spencer Parker & Dan Beaumont’sThe Look.

With classic vocal American garage tunes like the tightly wrought Dbow “Get Involved” and the effortlessly but sublimely tuned dub of Eric Kupper’s “Disco Revenge” midway through the set, Frankie then turns to a Hacienda classic, the David Morales Defmix version of Juliet Robert’s “Caught In The Middle”, a record which had the original Hacienda spellbound back in 1993.

Taking it deeper to the close, the deep bassline and twisted soul of Alfredo Azzetto’s remix of “The Word Is Love” is followed by  Frankie’s homage to New York’s Sound Factory with his tribal disco remix of Sounds Of Blackness “The Pressure Pt 1”, itself a Knuckles classic. To end, he then brings in Black Legend’s, “You See The Trouble With Me” before rounding up with Robert Gaez’s re-rub of Frankie’s “Get Over U”.

A great set from one of house music’s undoubtedly legendary figures, This Is Frankie Knuckles.

In 1984, Gianni Ephrikian released “Chiquita”. Now a reputable conductor and composer of film music in Italy, he was surprised when we approached him about this release that we had picked up at a local flea market in Berlin Schöneberg almost 30 years later. Our label tries to situate old music into new contexts and it was clear that “Chiquita” should have a reissue. This resulted in a 2-year spanning collaboration between artists from various ages and musical backgrounds reinterpreting aspects of “Chiquita”while staying true to its root–fun, disco and dance appeal. “Mi Vida” is a groovy balearic house take, DJ Gigola reinterprets the original with vocals from the Barcelona-based band Habla de mí en presente. Rifts presents an italo-inspired floor filler featuring the catalan duo Tata Relena. Gerd Janson provides us with a classic dance edit, and of course the original, remastered versions will be featured on the record as well.

We are fully aware that "Chiquita" is a loaded term, used in both derogative and affectionate ways for addressing women. It is also the name of a multinational brand selling bananas. That is why No Frills has decided that all profits from this release will go to theLatin American Women's Aid Foundation (https://lawadv.org.uk/) who work tirelessly to free women from violence and oppression in Latin American countries. Good things take time and love.

NairLess - Dazzling Fantasy (Jex Opolis Remix)

Bubbling beneath the surface of Japan's emerging underground scenes, Osaka-based artist Paperkraft (@pprkrft) has passionately developed his craft, immersing himself in the culture and championing a new wave of Japanese artists. With the rise of genres like UKG & bass in neighboring cities like Kyoto - it's the progressive and house movement Paperkraft is concerned about. Although more niche in his native city, developing a sustainable scene and championing the sounds he loves is the ultimate goal.

First introduced to HOMAGE through friend and breakthrough producer Stones Taro, Paperkraft referenced releases like Aldonna's (@aldonna) Morph EP as the catalyst to send his demos, and who subsequently remixed 'Ok Corral'. The Melbourne-based producer has since toured frequently both in Europe and in her home country of Australia; continuing to put her stamp on the underground and lending her expertise to remixes for the likes of Benjamin Fröhlich and Rosa Red.

Inspired by sounds from the 90 - 00's, and essential to the overall essence of his music, Paperkraft blends the old with the new. This duality can be found in the opening track 'The Amazing Spaceman' where liquid drums foam over contemporary sound design. 'Dizzy Disk' kicks things up a notch, holding on to that same old-school-new-school duality with an extra dose of dopamine for good measure. Manchester's Aiden Francis (@aidenfrancis) lends his signature sound to the remix, with elements of breakbeat, trance, and electro, showing why labels and clubgoers rate him so highly.

Breakthrough tracks' like Papekrafts' 'Dimple' which was released by HearThug's Are You Alien label gathered large support and made a special appearance on Manami's Boiler Room Debut; laying the foundations for tracks like 'Ok Corral' to take shape. The infectious vocal sample coupled with jam-like riffs gives off the vibe that it was done in one take in an act of pure enthusiasm, with that same energy lending itself to the dancefloor. Aldonna's remix adds a Balearic and emotive touch, while 'Stella' rounds off the EP with a left-leaning cut perfect for low-capacity clubs and sweaty, dimly-lighted rooms.
