Episode 62 packs in more genres than you can shake a shoehorn at, covering vintage disco, jackin’ house, down and dirty boogie funk, random edits, some latin flavours, raw funk and more. There are some brand new promos, some dusty files lurking in the depths of my collection and more than a sprinkling of funky business. 

I open the show with one of my favourite tracks of 2021 so far, the bizarre but mighty Where Your Shoes At by Brothers In Arts. And then an hour later I hand over to those very people for an excellent guest mix. I’ve been a big fan of this French duo’s productions for a while now, I play their tracks regularly both on this show and my livestream, and I just had to ask them along for a guest mix. They deliver in substantial style with 57 minutes of beautifully selected disco gems, perfectly mixed together into a funky treat.

Having clocked up over 6 Million streams and scores of Hypeddit Number 1’s with his Disco House bootleg remixes of Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Madonna, Whitney, Jacko, and Chic.
Now collaborating with legends such as Kathy Brown, Abigail Bailey, Nightcrawlers, Hysteric Ego, and Architechs, and labels including Tropical Disco Records, Hot Digits, Midnight Riot, Tropical Velvet, Spa In Disco and Masterworks, his official remixes and productions have scored Number 1's on Australia's Aria Dance Chart and Italy's iTunes Dance Chart.

Behind the decks, he’s supported The Chemical Brothers, Grant Nelson, Freemasons, DJ Yoda, Sir Norman Jay, Professor Green, and Fat Freddy’s Drop, playing for Hed Kandi and Ministry Of Sound, and hosts a monthly show on Centreforce Radio DAB.

DA LUKAS IN THE MIX - STREET SOUNDS RADIO PT 1 - 2 (SEPTEMBER - 2021)

My special guests this week are a talented DJ duo from Down Under, Dinsdale and Kevlar. Hailing from the Blue Mountains in Australia, they run their own radio show called “The Park Street Social”, broadcasting every Sunday with a delicious vibe of funk, disco and house. They have a guest DJ every month, handpicked from DJ talent across the globe.

The lads also have a monthly podcast of “Homage” mixes, where they choose and artist and put together a mix featuring solely that artists tracks. They typically delve deep into each artist’s back catalogue, to tell the “story” ands history of each artist’s work. Podcasts so far have included Dave Lee, John Digweed and Audiojack to name but a few

They recently broadcast a very special show, an epic 8 hour extravaganza for an Aussie long weekend, featuring a lineup of DJs from across disco and house world, including myself, and the legend that is Carl Cox! Link to that mix is below:

As for the lads themselves, Dinsdale has been DJing for 25 years, starting his journey back in Leeds in the UK where he had a residency at an Acid Techno club called Templehead between 1996 and 2002. During this time, he also spent some time in Tokyo where he picked up another residency at The Underground. 

Kevlar is the other half of The Parke Street Social, and was the original driving force behind starting the radio show back in 2019, with the vision of Sunday nights filled with funk, soul, disco and house!

Born in Staten Island, NY and now living in Austin, TX for the last few years, Boogietraxx, is helmed by producer/DJ Brandon Keeks who’s also ½ of Hot Fun. He brings an array of influences in his soundscapes that feature filter house, French touch, and filter funk.

Brought up on a nutritious diet of Prince, Kashif, George Benson, Daft Punk, DJ Falcon, Romanthony, and countless others, Boogietraxx’s sound is rooted in the future with accentuated basslines and laser-guided melodies.

He has released on notorious labels this year such as Super Spicy, True Romance and InStereo, with more future releases penned for 2022, we’ve certainly got him as one to watch for next year!
