The NOUR EP is a collaboration between juke/footwork adventurer BLK MRKS and award-winning creative art director and designer Radim Malinic [Brand Nu] 

During his recent trip to Uganda, Malinic recorded a vast range of moments and encounters in local communities. Focusing on Lake Byunioni and the South-West region of the country, the trip provided an exhilarating selection of chants, local folklore, songs and monologues. 

The audio was crafted into four intricate tracks highlighting both the richness and diversity of Ugandan culture, and the vibrancy of the emerging Footwork scene. Each track is quite different in personality but all reflecting an interesting clash of cultures. 

The tracks have been remixed by a wide selection of producers from all over the world. Russian Footwork edits, wonky 169bpm remixes and club-ready 130bpm tracks... and more. Expect these on a remix EP in September. 

Ndege, the first single from the EP, was released on 13th July 2015. 
The four original tracks EP will follow in 27th July 2015.

This project was inspired by the charitable work of Little Big Africa, who provide protected water sources to local people in East Uganda.

Beaming from the success of Denham Audio colab mixtape Club Glow Vol 1, and Hotline smasher Anyone from London, Borai is back with another couple of Breakstep bangers. Part resurrection, part new direction, this release harks back to a nascent scene, not yet eclipsed by the half time sound we came to know as dubstep. Picking up where others left off, Borai takes the tempo range down a fresh new avenue of exploration.

Higher Level Records is Borai's long overdue foray into label management alongside Henry Bainbridge (Dub Studio / HLM). Not content with simply releasing their own records, the dub plate duo will put their 15 years' experience running club nights and a cutting house into every release. Only after each track has been cut to dub and road tested at their eponymous  night will they be committed to lacquer and pressed up.

As a follow up to Night Lights, his first Good Street release in 2019, https://soundcloud.com/wissotamusic has channelled his own personal experiences of 2020 into Stay Safe. A strong mix of Footwork rhythms, lush ambient pads and home recorded sounds, the minimal feel is one that can resonate with us all - a slowdown of life with an underlying relentless rhythm just yearning to break feel.

'During a break in my job from the Covid-19 quarantine I wanted to write a new EP that's calming and brings a sense of safety and security in the crazy times we're in. A large point of transition in my life, my job ended, and I decided to take the opportunity to adventure to the pacific northwest. This EP seeks to capture the emotions I was feeling at this point in time. They are all pretty personal.'

'Good Morning' plays with randomization over a heavily syncopated beat, pulling into a four-on-the-floor driving groove. 'Hum' uses recorded voices chopped up with samples of things found in a room, such as a shot glass, cookie tin, salt shaker, knife and spoon for percussion. This is mixed with recordings of Wissota's own claps and snaps, layered with drum machines. 'Distances' uses a lo-fi recording of a cobble beach in Oregon. Listen closely and you can hear Wissota's friend yell his name over the waves, just before the hats kick in. Full of lush meditative pads that break into a massive 80's bass synthwave feel at 160. 

'Follow' boasts huge powerful synths balanced with the sounds of nature. It's a track full of hope and rebuilding. 'Max Speed' is the high powered closer, which feels like driving through a city, at night, in the rain. Leading into a massive drop with a live drum kit, layered with piano, strings, trumpet and pads.

Dive into this EP, full of personal sounds, stories and feelings, and experience another's perspective on this strange time for humanity.
