In our never ending quest to meet as many peers as we possibly can across an ever-expanding planetary soundscape, we have managed to get acquainted to the work of a multitude of fantastic people whose devotion to not only seeking but sharing the wealth of sonic treasures the globe holds resonates deeply with our mission. The same that fuels this series and has helped us cover a vast geographical area as well as discover many musical eras in our encounters. This one, for instance, brings us closer to the talents of a young French ensemble whose collective efforts have unearthed precious gems to cut them into gorgeous edits and place them in stunning jewels such as the selection we present here. Pompelope's passionate multifront work involves most things that connects us to all kinds of music in order to generate those special pleasures we hold dearest, from lively events to selling and distributing fantastic records, but also putting together delightful compilations such as the much lauded "Foule Contact" and this voyage of a mix. We love to see our friends spread their wings and fly far and wide towards distant horizons with a mind filled with ideas, a future teeming with plans and a bag full of records, especially when they are imbued with that mission of taking with them some of what makes our music and their enjoyment so special around here across the world. The guest we are happy to present this week is a long time friend and a steady presence in most of our musical endeavours, be it at the booth or the dancefloor, who now calls the stunning landscapes of the province of Lyon his home but hasn't lost his globetrotting impetus. Part of the collective Furie, Pedro Bertho is the type of selector who can surreptitiously put us all into a frenzy to then take us to calmer places in a matter of just a few tracks, the main trait of the type of steersman to whom we trust our minds and bodies to be taken through states that can be mood altering as well as life changing. Nothing short of what could be expected from a selector so devoted to the art.

Few weeks ago, Timéo (@timeodj), one of the DJs from french collective La Rennes Des Voyous contacted us to share his latest mix. 
We really enjoyed the vibe of the podcast mainly based on what Timéo called the "funk sensations", the energy of funk and its origins that he tries to transcribe thru lots of genres and especially French synth & funk on this one.
While recording this, he quoted Soul Claps records  "[About Italo Funk] it is not a style, genre or a specific sound, it's more of an attitude, a mindset you have to put yourself into before producing or DJing."
So in this 100% vinyl mix expect many gems from some electronic japanese grooves, Armenian and Austrian funk, kwaito, afro funk or house.

Veteran DJ and producer Sebra Cruz, founder of Margot Records and half of the iconic duo Margot, has long cultivated his craft with deep roots in the Italian Riviera club scene since the mid-1990s, under the moniker Pepe DJ. His musical identity transcends genres — whether on the dancefloor or in ambient and experimental settings, Sebra’s touch is unmistakable. His releases span labels such as Life and Death, Ellum, Habitat, and Bolina Records, including collaborations with DJ Tennis and Elasi, and remixes for Diplo, Catz N’ Dogz, Ricky Montanari, LP Giobbi, and Coyote. His debut album was released in 2023 on Life and Death. “Bellissima”, the title track, is a house music homage to elegance and grace — to be danced to with lightness and listened to with heart. Each sample is carefully placed, crafting an ethereal atmosphere. The hypnotic repetition of the word “bellissima” after the break heightens a sense of sonic ecstasy.
