(Best experienced through earphones) a Stolen Glow are an outfit from Co. Wexford, Ireland. The group consists of James Murphy - 'Byrdz' [pronounced 'Birds'] (E.S.S. & One For Sorrow), and Alan Davis (E.S.S.) As a studio band the pair worked on a Stolen Glow for over ten years, with James, carefully crafting a blend of home-made rock music, and Alan, carefully focusing on some music, but then cutting his teeth on video animation. Two E.P.'s emerged 2016's 'Just Far Enough Away' and 2019's 'Rough Mixes'. The outfit's  album 'Ten Track Recorder' saw the light of day in 2020, and then the mainly (drop D based guitar tuned) 12 track album '11 Items' was released in the year 2022. Gordon Barry is a singer/songwriter from Wexford, Ireland. He has performed with an array of international acts & featured in publications such as The Wall Street Journal and Hot Press Magazine. In 2014 Gordon released his debut EP 'Sojourning' & completed a tour of New York. While in the US, Gordon met renowned country artist Steve Earle who invited him to take up a scholarship role at his school for songwriters in the Appalachian Mountains. Established in 2014 Steve Earle's Camp Copperhead is now in it's sixth year and has attracted hundreds of songwriters & musicians from all corners of the globe. Earle has since gone on to say "Gordon Barry is the best songwriter that's come out of Camp Copperhead, but make no mistake he was already a special songwriter when he got there".

Having played alongside acts such as Earle, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Marah, Mick Flannery, Eddi Reader & more, Gordon then released his debut album in 2017. Titled ''The Best Way To Kill a Monster'' it was recorded both in Ireland & the US and was mixed by legendary Seattle Producer Steve Fisk, who was the man behind the wheel of early recordings by Nirvana, Soundgarden and a whole host of acts that sprung from the Seattle/Sub pop era.

The albums first single 'Devil & St. Jesus' was released and went on to win the top prize for lyrics at The 2017 International Songwriting Competition in Nashville. An annual event which is judged among others by Tom Waits, Lorde, Rickie Lee Jones and many more, The ISC is considered the most prestigious songwriting competition in the world and according to the New York Times, "is the songwriting competition to take note of".

Sounds from a Green World
 
September 2011 saw East Limerick Community Radio launch its fulltime broadcasting schedule and as part of its weekly programming I host “Sounds from a Green World” every Thursday night at 8.30pm.
 
Never before has Ireland enjoyed such a rich and diverse music scene, however only a handful of artists amongst the hundreds that are out there are getting the airplay & promotion their creative efforts deserve. 

The show champions the hoards of up & coming acts whilst paying homage to those that have already made an impact and those that have left a musical legacy behind them.
 
I believe that music has a special power to move the soul and inspire - this is especially important in these challenging times when the nation could badly do with positive things to be proud off and our musical talent is most definitely something to treasure and support.
