On many occasions, techno is a self-contained genre whose staunch advocates vacuum-seal it to remain unaltered, resistant to any external influence that might cause it to mutate. That's why it grabs a lot of attention when artists like Lucía Gea, whose background transcends techno, engage in brilliant sonic exercises that lead the genre to undergo a metamorphosis akin to that of butterflies.

Lucía Gea arrives at Gordo Trax with a solid EP in terms of intentions and ethereal in terms of forms, exploring her inner world revolving around personal experiences that inspire her creative process. The feminine strength emanating from Multipass permeates each of its tracks, from Gemini with its luminous sequences to Sticky Floor with its bewildering universe, Gargolita with its Detroit touch, or the Club Remix of Gemini, where Lucía showcases the forcefulness of her music, transforming the original track into a torrent of acid rain that will conquer any club where it plays. Meanwhile, Finalversion3 also contributes his vision of Gemini with a remix featuring broken beats, respecting the original sound to the fullest while bringing it into his own domain.

Inspired by the power of women, driven by an admirable determination for self-improvement, backed by overwhelming talent, and established as one of the voices with a lot to say in the techno scene, Lucía Gea weaves an EP that will be etched into Gordo Trax's discography and will make evident the metamorphosis that electronic talent is undergoing in Valencia.

Possibly not. If they’re anything like us, they barely sleep at all.

Lucky for us, Linear System has concocted the perfect combination of tracks to soundtrack these midnight wormholes. 5 tracks that navigate the realms of dark, brooding Techno, aided by resonant textures, chirping foley and ultimately a cavernous groove administered with surgical precision.

This release wouldn’t be complete without Atisbo’s take on “Permanent Marker”. Our young resident crafts a remix comprised of broken techno that sounds like plastic melting under the hot martian sun, with solvent fumes emanating in clouds of sonic swathe.

Like a sheet of metal slamming against the floor, Tiefton’s EP arrives swiftly, loudly, and causing tremor.

With an EP filled with rapid-onset brutalist beats, the Frankfurt artist manages to hypnotize the listener, delivering quick blows and sharp turns in the form of highly danceable structures. Endlessly meandering through streams of liquified sound, weaved around metallic texture, the ep’s expansive sound seems to infinitely fold in on itself like a poly-dimensional object.

We have invited Lidvall to reshape the sounds of this EP into his remix of Only I Will Remain, where we are treated to a bleak scenery, the outcry of metallic vultures encircling their spoils, with the rummage of a pillaging steamroller echoing in the background.

In front of us is an EP equally capable of exploring inner and outer space.

Not A Headliner’s music seems to demonstrate a concept that is always heavily discussed:

It’s very easy to emulate the work of the pioneers, but to understand their essence, and create something new from the blueprint of the originators, that’s where real advancement lies.

Crafting 5 originals, Not a headliner is able to distil the purpose of the sonic language he’s bathed in without ever sounding derivative. From the Millsian UFO transmissions of the opener “Neglected Population”, to the head charge of “Weekly Designer”, pummeling on a grid like an S-bahn carrier.

Our endeavour continues with “El Precio”,  a nod to Birmingham’s desolate post-industrial landscape, resonating within towering concrete walls of abandoned steel mills. Closely following, “Outperform” is a surgical techno effort where filtered slices fall on an intricate cobweb. We are seen off by “Aquafuture”, a culmination of euphoric hallucinations on the Hardcore Continuum.

Our dear friend Lucia Gea puts a twist on “El Precio”, ramping up the industrial tones by incorporating lasered pangs, with machinery whirring us into a constant state of alert.
