A Yowie that wandered out of the bush and stumbled into Rainbow Serpent Festival sometime in the early 2000s and never looked back!

I'm Jim, AKA Smoked Yowie and much like the yowie of myth, I can be a reclusive creature at times. I live in the hills in country Victoria, Australia near a tiny town called Lexton. A town some of you will know is the home of the magical Rainbow Serpent Festival. For me, it's the place where I first sunk my roots in this beautiful scene. After attending 10+ RSF events between 2004(ish) and its finale in 2019, it was from around 2015 that I began to open up and really discover what we all know and love as the Doof. After finding my groove on the dancefloor in the heavier sounds of full-on, night-psy and soon enough, forest psytrance, I had an epiphany in the tiny hours of the morning after a solid night on the dancefloor. I knew what I wanted to do in my heart and that one day I could realise that dream! It was a moment I'll never forget and the reason I will always pinch myself when I get the opportunity to put together a show for you beautiful souls!    

On the business end - I love playing energetic, hard hitting psytrance for the bush aiming to bring smiles, challenge boundaries, stomp, bounce and flow in the darkness and blue hours of the morning. Bringing elements of twilight, night-psy, goa and forest together with a dash of weird to form psychedelic journeys bound by heavy basslines and wild soundscapes. Goreiju is where two distinct worlds touch in quiet harmony, the collaboration of Leonid Golčev (Tengri) and Mlađo Ivanović (Egon’s Embrace). It is not only a testament to their friendship and shared understanding of art, this project feels like a secret finally shared, a soundscape that exists somewhere between the imagined and the inevitable. 

Tengri’s atmospheric, spiritual voyages meet Egon’s introspective and dark poetic depths, weaving music that is neither anchored nor adrift. It moves like a dream you can’t quite grasp, a story told in fragments and shadows. Each track feels alive, shaped as much by what is unsaid as by what is revealed, inviting the listener into its unfolding mystery.

This is not music that explains itself; it resonates, echoing something just beyond reach. It offers a kind of alchemy, blending the meditative and the haunting, the tender and the bold. Goreiju does not demand attention but it draws you closer, asking you to listen not just with your ears but with something deeper.

For those willing to step into the unknown, Goreiju is a portal. It’s not about answers but questions, not about certainty but exploration - a collaboration that feels less created than discovered, waiting all along for the right moment to emerge.
