“ọba” means “king” in Yoruba, Idris’s mother’s first language, and “flip” references the flip phone Stella still carried when they met—as well as the duo’s desire to “flip things up.” They bring their disparate lived experiences together to create hard-driving eclectic sets punctuated by space and groove. Unafraid to mix genres within the electronic sphere, their sound is refreshing, with every set being wide-ranging while also matching the energy of the room. 

As resident DJs for NYC’s Zero and Armen Miran’s Reborn Project, they have played in venues such as House of Yes (Brooklyn), Knockdown Center (Queens), Cielos (California), and two of Berlin’s finest clubs—Kater Blau and Sisyphos.

The July edition of Wayward was a blast! I got to open up the room for David Alec (Pink Mammoth), Friedlander (Camp Synthesis), and Redbloom, and all of them played some excellent tunes! We had a great crowd from start to finish! Since I was on opening duties, I played a little more funky and upbeat than my usual style -- a rare opportunity for me :) 

Huge thanks to my guest DJs, and to all the wonderful people who brought their energy and good vibes to the dancefloor. Hope you're all having a great summer!

Was absolutely delighted to be asked to play DISTRIKT again and had a special bag of gems saved for this very occasion - just in case. The gems in this mix range from melodic deep house with haunting and quirky vocals to nasty bass house with a progressive edge, oftentimes seesawing between the two styles back-to-back, just to keep things interesting and fresh.
