Regarded upon his 2006 arrival as a promising beatmaker looming in the shadows of J Dilla, Madlib, waterfalls and Dabrye, Steven Ellison -- known as Flying Lotus -- nullified all comparisons only two years later with Los Angeles. On that album, his first of five for the Warp label, Ellison distilled a uniquely crisp, spasmodic, and heady sound with elements of hip-hop, avant-garde jazz, IDM, and dubstep. While the abovementioned producers fueled Ellison, he had also been excited as a youngster by the '90s West Coast rap classics that combined programming and live instrumentation. His sound continued to develop as he put his own twist on the approach, recording with a crop of jazz musicians including the indispensable likes of bassist Thundercat and strings master Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. This process began with the turbulent 2010 set Cosmogramma and peaked in terms of acclaim in 2014 with You're Dead!, which crashed the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 and spawned the Kendrick Lamar collaboration "Never Catch Me," a Grammy nominee for Best Dance Recording. Ellison devoted a few years to various forms of film work and the operation of his revered Brainfeeder label, and returned in 2019 with Flamagra, his second consecutive album to top Billboard's Dance/Electronic chart.

Bristol-based producer Sean McCabe released his first tracks in 2003 and has since fine-tuned a trademark sound that is effortlessly soulful.

McCabe made his name in house, developing a long-running relationship with legendary US garage label King Street Sounds and remixing the likes of Dennis Ferrer, Evelyn Champagne King, Carolyn Harding, Blaze, and Roland Clark. Since then he’s amassed an impressive discography, delivering inspired productions for labels like Local Talk, Strictly Rhythm, Vega Records, Tribe, and Quantize – plus an original solo album for Z Records.

A quick listen to any of his productions or one of his superb DJ sets will confirm this attractive, emotion-rich aesthetic. While rooted in house, his sound regularly takes on flavours of disco, boogie, Afro, deeper grooves, proto-house, ‘90s garage-house dubs and much more besides.

As an artist, his 2014 debut album entitled ‘It’s Time’ on Z Records displays his musical range and versatile quality production skills. The album hit Number 1 on Traxsource in its first week and has received support from the likes of Solar Radio, Mi-Soul, Kiss FM, and Jazz FM.

As a DJ, he forged a reputation at the legendary Southport Weekender, where he performed regularly. Anyone who can impress the notoriously knowledgeable Southport Weekender crowd must be doing something right. Sean has also travelled the world, playing as far afield as Asia and South Africa, as well as regular appearances across Europe and the UK. Refreshingly, he seems to have no particular aspirations to play in gargantuan clubs, and admits to preferring gigs in small, intimate venues, where he can make a connection with the crowd.

As a producer, McCabe is constantly learning and evolving, taking his sound in different directions. He admits to a love of vintage synthesizers – picked up from listening to classic New York boogie and ‘80s soul. In 2016, Sean continued his musical journey by launching ‘Good Vibrations Music’ record label – a natural evolution of his renowned Good Vibrations events in Bristol.

With a successful album under his belt, his own record label and notable collaborations with the likes of Karizma, Turbojazz, and DJ Spen, his reputation for bringing quality soulful dance music to the masses continues to rise.

One time jazz dancer, Marcia Carr is a woman of many talents with many years of industry insider experience. A deejay of long stature and also a member of the Ladyz™ collective she indeed has many a string to her bow.

She has graced the decks at many events and social soiress over the years to recent haunts like Is It LIVE, Mind Fluid, Whistle Bump, Southport Weekender, Right Area, Shelter, Back II Basics, Southport Sessions, House Huntin, Weekending amongst others. Playing regularly on the international circuit too Marcia's a well renonwned figure within the realms of quality underground Dance.  Having spun with some honorary names over the years that include Kerri Chandler, Phil Asher, Paul 'Anderson, Frankie Valentine, Norman Jay MBE, Larry Heard, Jeremy Newall, Seamus Haji (Big Love Music), Orin Walters (BITA), Teddy Douglas (The Basement Boys), Marc Mac (4 Hero), Ricky Morrison (M&S Productions), Bert Bevans (Studio54), DJ Paulette, Kevin Beadle (Mind Fluid), Neil Pierce, Johnny Reckless (Cybersoulmusic.com), Kaidi Tatham, Jazzie B, Cosmo, Rachel Aubern and many others.  On a night off Marcia still has a yearning to take to the dance floor. 

Her deeper, inspirational, soulful, jazzy, gospel styles encompassing tech house, broken beat even dubstep have graced the airwaves of a variety of radio stations as far flung as Sri Lanka to our European neighbours - Estonia, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Ireland, Greece, Spain and in the UK recently, at venues like the Ministry Of Sound on-line alongside the likes of Bob Sinclair, David Morales and Masters At Work. 

With over 30+ years in the area of radio, Marcia has amassed various skills and taken her work for a number of leading stations; presently host, producer and presenter of Marcia's MixedBag on http://mi-soul.com every Monday; 3pm-5pm.

She's also fitting in freelance contributions to publications such I-DJ, TheSoulSurvivors.co.uk, Basic-Soul.com and Soulm8online magazines. 

Marcia heads up talking Music Productions PR which has assisted many distinct record labels and artists like The Basement Boys, Phil Asher, Kajmere Sound (The Rebirth), Peven Everett, Judah & Secret, Souled, The Royal priesthood and others, as well as turning her hand at producing and remix work in the studio and music consultancy which also keeps her schedule busy. 

It's no wonder then that her diversity and knowledge perfectly illustrates exactly why she very much in demand; she IS the DJ's DJ!
