June 16th 2022 marks 46 years since the 1976 Student uprising and President Cyril Ramaphosa will commemorate Youth Day at the Mthatha Stadium in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape Province, under the theme: “Promoting sustainable livelihood and resilience of young people for a better tomorrow.” On that day, the President will deliver an update on the Presidential initiatives aimed at stimulating youth employment. The main event will be hosted in accordance with COVID-19 Regulations on outdoor gatherings at the Mthatha Stadium. South Africans are invited to follow the commemorative events on government digital platforms and major news broadcasting channels.

Cabinet has welcomed the release of the latest employment data from StatsSA, which confirm the growth in total employment during 2018.
