This vintage circuit bent Speak & Read features a 3.55 mm (1/8") line output jack, 2 momentary loop buttons, a loop hold switch, 2 different glitch switches, a distortion switch, a pitch on/off switch and corresponding pitch amount knob. The Speak & Read has a green LED and a battery kill switch which can be used to hard reset the device if needed.

The Speak & Read was released in 1980 by Texas Instruments and uses a 4 bit microprocessor and a custom DSP. It has a vocabulary of 250 words and uses the same TMS5100 voice synthesis processor IC found in the Speak & Spell. The added modifications make this unit perfect for creative sound design and lo-fi drones and noise. The device requires 4 "C" Batteries or optional DC power supply. It has a uniquely gritty lo-fi sound with a large amount of possibilities. Batteries not included. Battery cover is included but has a piece of tape to keep it secure.
