It's an improvisation on the clarinet using much of the material that I have been working with over the month.  Sadly, it's not perfect but it was great fun to do (one take, which was going to be the test!!).  Would you like me to make more live tracks?

Istvan J. Balazs is a Hungarian film composer and a voting member of the World Soundtrack Awards Academy. Istvan is known for his scores for movies such as the Award Winning "American Family Revival" (US, 2019), When To You Turn To God(HU, 2016), One Day of The Karoli Family(HU, 2017), "JUNGLE" (AT, 2019) movie. Istvan is currently working on his first Oratorio called "THE RETURN OF THE KING OF KINGS", which will be premiered worldwide in 2024.

I started composing daily pieces and posting them onto SoundCloud at the beginning of 2013.  By posting daily I am tweaking, experimenting and developing a thought, idea or event in time.  I am endeavouring to show that there is no limit to that creative spark that lies within each of us.  So much of what we do nowadays is about instant return, I am about evolution not revolution (although each month starts with a clean slate).  Join me on my journey to 10,000 (18 May 2040!!!)

I have written for a variety of ensembles that include instruments as diverse as the marimba, the oboe, and the Theremin. I am conversant with harmony from the common practice period as well as with more modern developments.

Education

Educated as an electrical engineer, I received my BSEE in 1985 and have worked almost entirely for professional and consumer audio electronics manufacturers in the Boston area for thirty years, enabling me to combine my skill in circuit design with my love of music.

While I am a largely self-taught musician, I have taken composition lessons with Thomas Benjamin during my studies at Peabody Conservatory and am currently studying with composer Douglas Helvering. 

Film

My composition Road Side Reverie is featured as the soundtrack of a short film, Road Trip Through America, that is archived in the Moving Image Research Collection at the University of South Carolina. 

Performances

In September of 2014, at the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall in Salem, Massachusetts, at an event sponsored by the Theatre of Words & Music, my Sonatinas for Flute and Piano Nos. 6, 7, and 9 were performed by flautist Sandra McCahill and pianist Leonard Scoggin.
