Cromie's quietly become one of LA's most vital house producers. Following a killer debut for NYC-based label Peach alongside fellow Eastsider Sage Caswell (with a remix by none other than Kyle MF Hall), he's been patiently honing his craft. His unique, amped-up vision of house music comes into full view with his Amadeus debut, At Interfaces. Cromie, real name Nikola Hlady, is liberal with the soulful samples. In his case, they're simply a flourish to his fully formed productions. Take the title track. In the breakdown, he introduces a beautiful saxophone solo and the occasional vocal, but they serve only compliment the massive bassline and percolating pads which form the backbone of the song. With Onda, Cromie's melodic gift is on display. A vibraphone lead takes us down a path to some beautiful, nostalgic chords. The B-side is all fascinating rhythms, for the DJs. "Tariff" is pure peak-time business. For the closer, "Clear To Me," he's roped in James Del Barco, with whom he throws underground raves in LA. The B2, or 'inside cut,' mixes a hyperactive 2-step kick with a jacking snare and just the right amount of LA G-funk action, with a sampled diva sweetening the mix.

Her tunes are that special blend of banging and emotionally charged that hits the sweet spot - influenced by her classical piano training background, an upbringing in the impenetrable rainforest basin of Vanvcouver, and her time spent DJing Berlin, performing alongside legends like Prosumer, DVS1, Daniel Bell, The Black Madonna, Steffi, and others. Now one of our favs drops her sophomore release on your favorite label: The 5-track mini-album “Sleeping In Shapes' moves through the gamut of Braue’s moody, eerily tough sonic palette. Micro flourishes emerge through the moody haze snaring you into the vibe. Release opener “Gravy Train” clangs like the best of them, swirling pads ensconce a looping vocal and full frontal 4/4/ thump, before jumping deep into the motorik motors & square bass throwback of “Spiral”. “Robot Arms” veers into more leftfield territory, from there we float off-world with the lush embrace of “Succulent” before breaking entirely free of any constraints of Earthly gravity on closing track “The Rattle”. Throughout all these pieces, the work contains elements of aquatic downtempo bordering the fringes of Chicago house, a dance party in a dreamscape setting. Music that will have you both as much throwing shapes as sleeping in them.

"Hamburg’s Zissou Records returns this December with an EP by label co-founder David Bay, entitled ‘Zissou Edits Best Vol.1’ and made up of four funk-infused disco cuts.

David Bay is the Hamburg based co-founder of Zissou Records and a member of the band Pool. Recent times have seen him begin releasing solo material under his own name, remixing The Phenomenal Handclap Band on Toy Tonics alongside Ray Mang and Danny Krivit. Here though we see Bay unveil a selection of fresh original compositions for his full debut, offered up via his own beloved Zissou imprint.

Leading the release is ‘Me With Your <3’, fusing cinematic string lines, noodling guitar licks, expansive delays and swirling filter work throughout. ‘I Changed My POV’ follows next, this time round laying focus on an amalgamation of cut up guitar samples and plucked bass notes alongside crunchy percussion and vocal chants to create a dynamic, ever unfolding workout.

‘Uptown Down’ then aesthetically leans towards a more classic house sound with organic drums, a bumpy stab led bass hook and stab sequences while vocoder voices and resonant synth licks wind their way through the track. The nostalgic sound of ‘Please Leave Me A Message After The’ then wraps up the release, merging 80’s leaning chord sequences, twinkling melodies and low-slung drums with a voicemail message breakdown."
