Hailed as “the ideal collaborator for new music” and praised for his “beautiful tone and technique“ by Brutal New Music Review, saxophonist and new music curator Drew Hosler (he/him/his) is an advocate for contemporary music. Drew has commissioned, premiered, and collaborated on over 150 pieces by award-winning composers such as Andrew Mead, Jamie Leigh Sampson, David Heinick, Matthew Kennedy, and Marilyn Shrude. His upcoming debut solo album, delta waves, features thirteen world premiere recordings of 21st century works for the tenor saxophone funded in part by the EXCEL Enterprise Fund and ArtsEngine. His 2020 self-released EP Hope Will Carry Us COVID-19: Music for Solo Tenor Saxophone features eleven world premiere recordings from composers all over the world. It was featured on WSMR Florida’s Classical Music Station’s Modern Notebook hosted by Tyler Kline.

Drew is an avid performer as a soloist. In 2022, he gave the world premiere of Josh Trentadue’s tenor saxophone concerto, To fly and to fall with conductor Kim Fleming and musicians of The University of Michigan. Additionally, he has performed concerti by Walter Mays and William Albright with the Bowling Green Philharmonia and the BGSU Concert Band under the baton of Alexander Popovici and Bruce Moss respectively. He has also performed a variety of music for solo saxophone at the New Music Gathering, University of Kansas New Music Guild, 15-Minutes-of-Fame, New Music Mosaic, Boston New Music Initiative, as well as various North American Saxophone Alliance Conferences. He was awarded prize at the 2022 Vivaldi International Music Competition, the 2021 Charleston International Music Competition’s Contemporary Music Competition, the 2022 London Classical Music Competition, and the 51st Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Competition in Music Performance in 2017. Drew has also performed with ensembles such as the Saginaw Eddy Concert Band and the Lima Symphony Orchestra.

Drew is a founding member, saxophonist, and artistic director for the new music ensemble, The _____ Experiment. To date, the ensemble has worked with composers to premiere over 30 works for various mixed chamber instrumentations. In March 2020, The _____ Experiment released their debut album, Conversations, which includes seven world premiere recordings from five different composers which was funded partially by the Running Start Competition through Michigan State University. They were the guest ensemble for Praecepta’s New Music Mini-Fest at BGSU’s College of Musical Arts where they performed 10 pieces including 7 world premieres by BGSU graduate students and alumni. The ensemble has performed across the country, including the Michigan State University College of Music, SUNY Potsdam Crane School of Music, the Flint Institute of Music, and Narloch Piano Studio in Chicago. In addition, the ensemble was awarded multiple prizes through the Charleston International Music Competition’s 2021 Contemporary Music Competition. This includes first prize for their performance of Jasper Sussman’s …nice box! “Oh So Square“ for tenor saxophone and harp. Upcoming engagements include performances with New Music Chicago and the University of Florida. In addition, Drew currently serves as the Assistant Managing Director for the Cleveland Uncommon Sound Project. 

Drew holds a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance, a Master of Music in Chamber Music, and a Certificate in Arts Entrepreneurship & Leadership from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance. He also holds a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from Bowling Green State University College of Music Arts. Prior to that, he studied at the Flint Institute of Music. His primary instructors have been Timothy McAllister, John Sampen, and Jeffrey Price.

The Moreau | VanTuinen Duo is a percussion/euphonium group located in Phoenix, AZ. Comprised of Danielle Moreau (percussion) and Danielle VanTuinen (euphonium), the duo aims to expand their repertoire through commissioning projects and provide educational outreach opportunities for middle and high school students throughout Arizona. 

Drawing from their pop/rock, electronic, and soulful singer-songwriter roots, WHSTLE's EP "Built For It" creates a cinematic trip-hop vibe with bluesy progressions and intimate lyrics.

Releasing their EP in late 2017, WHSTLE is making waves in the southwest music scene; already performing at SXSW 2018, touring in Colorado with High School Nation, and receiving radio play from Arizona's top Alternative & Rock stations. Headlining the Marquee in April 2018 & opening for national touring acts including Silento & Sir Sly, the band is not slowing down anytime soon.

WHSTLE is comprised of lead singer Saydi Driggers, guitarist William Butler, and drummer Jake Briggs. The trio is self produced and are expecting two more albums this year.

Dr. Danielle VanTuinen is a low brass performer, music educator, arranger, and entrepreneur based in New England.  She currently serves as low brass faculty at the Portland Conservatory of Music, low brass instructor for the marching band at the University of New Hampshire, the low brass specialist of the Westbrook School Department in Maine, and a private lessons instructor in the Stratham School District in Stratham, NH. While completing her doctoral work, she served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in both Tuba and Euphonium at Arizona State University where she was the instructor of the low brass methods course aimed at providing music education majors with the tools needed to teach low brass throughout public schools. Danielle is the co-founder of the Moreau | VanTuinen Duo and an active presenter, clinician, and performing artist throughout the United States.

In addition to her current appointments, Danielle has served as the middle school tuba/euphonium instructor at the Summer Youth Music School (SYMS), held on the University of New Hampshire campus in Durham, NH. Designed for middle and high school students, she teaches masterclasses and private lessons. Prior to her work in New England, Danielle was the Low Brass Instructor with the Phoenix Youth Symphony and a low brass instructor/clinician with the Arizona State University Concert Band. She has actively participated as a member and coordinator of commissioning new works for both solo euphonium/tuba literature and percussion/euphonium repertoire resulting in new works focusing on expanding the repertoire.

Dr. VanTuinen has performed with several ensembles throughout Arizona, Michigan and the New England areas, including the Phoenix Ballet,West Valley Symphony Orchestra, the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Salt River Brass Band, and the New England Brass Band. As a co-founder of the Moreau | VanTuinen Duo, Danielle has been invited to perform at Northern Arizona University, the University of Vermont, the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University, the Miraphone Academy of the Southwest, the Southwest Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference, and the International Women’s Brass Conference as a guest artist and educational outreach presenter.

Danielle arched a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Performance from Arizona State University. Her culmination doctoral project, “Euphonium and Live Interactive Electronics: A Performer’s Examination of Three New Works”, aimed at providing the current repertoire with three new works, historical context, and an performer’s examination. She holds a Master of Music degree in Music Performance from Arizona State University and a Bachelors of Music degree in Music Performance from Central Michigan University. Her principal teachers and mentors include Dr. Deanna Swoboda, Professor Douglas Yeo, Dr. Mark Cox, and Professor Scott Hanson. Danielle is a member of the International Tuba Euphonium Association and the former student representative.

The music of Christopher Mitchel has been performed and read by such artists and groups as Irvine Arditti, Ensemble Interface, Ensemble PHACE, and Ensemble Dal Niente. His works have been performed and featured at the Outside the Box New Music Festival, the Charlotte New Music Festival, the North American Saxophone Alliance Regional Conference at New Mexico State University, the Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice at the New England Conservatory, Clarinetfest 2017 (International Clarinet Association) in Orlando, Florida, the Valencia International Performance Academy and Festival in Valencia, Spain, the Biennial North American Saxophone Alliance National Conference at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, the 2018 Bowling Green State University Graduate Student Music Conference, the 2018 Vienna Summer Music Festival, the World Sax Congress in Zagreb, Croatia, and the 2018 Belgian Clarinet Academy in Belgium, Iceland, Idaho State University, Dickinson State University and most recently at the June in Buffalo festival at the University at Buffalo, the New York Viola Society in New York City and Clarinetfest 2019 (International Clarinet Association) at the University of Tennessee.
