The Beginning, out June 3rd on Gravitas Recordings, is a journey of introspection, blending both masculine and feminine energy and providing moments of movement. This is quite literally “The Beginning” for Bass Temple as she has been making a name for herself playing shows at The Black Box, Denver Ecstatic Dance, CloZee’s Voyage Festival, and many more. Bass Temple’s sound captures a mix of psychedelic and reflective bass music, creating a more intentional listening experience. With recent releases from High Vibes Recordings, this EP showcases the freedom to explore new sounds and ideas that felt true to where her sound has musically grown. 

“Galaxy” starts the EP off with slow and steady horns and crunchy bass, building tension and bringing the EP to an energetic start.  “Secrets” takes this energy and transforms it into a powerful heavy drop that immediately sets the tone for this EP.  “Bad Bitch” maintains this heavy energy while giving a sense of empowerment with its title and deeper meaning from this female artist. “Hype” is full of melodic synths and bass,  keeping the power from the previous tracks while slowly releasing tension into a beautiful blend of styles. “Beyond the Day” closes out the EP with vocal chops and a more psychedelic urban beat that ends the EP perfectly, still incorporating bass and heavier elements as previous tracks but without overpowering to tie it all together.

The Rad Hatter & Akriza - Through The Night

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest made me appreciate the rain so much for what it brings and what it washes away. I now live in California where rain is even more scarce and precious to our dry ecosystem.

Mizu is the Japanese word for water and is the title of my single that drops this Friday on October 28th. I started this song on a long road trip with nothing but my laptop and a pair of headphones. This song has turned it into a musical journey I am really excited to share. The song starts out with an ethereal soundscape of rain and thunder that evolves into a section of the song that I imagine as a storm that clears as the second drop comes in. This song captures, for me, a little bit of the essence of rainy days in the Pacific Northwest.

The rain is such a magical thing in so many ways. I love hiking and exploring outside in the rain or staying inside and cozying up. I love to get creative when the rains come, how my mood shifts into more inward expression.

Praying for a wet fall, especially here in CA.
