Nostalgic 90ies rock with echoes of seventies singersong

With a musical father from London, she grew up among British folk and reggae guitars. You can clearly hear a childhood in the 1990s, which actually sounded more like the 1970s, yet her songs are all about the here and now. Call it folk, indie, pop or rock... it's probably all right. From unabashed ballads to fuzzy rock songs, one thing is for sure: Martha Moore is brutally honest.

At its heart are strong melodies, catchy lyrics and a warm authentic sound. Assisted by a five-piece band: Hugo Antunes on bass, Marco Giongrandi on guitar, Laura Vander Elst keys and vox and Linde Van Moll on the drums.

Renton Jules might be a person. It might be a band. But this is Renton Jules, the Antwerp (B) based four piece of singer songwriter Geert Laenens.

'Renton Jules' was formed by singer songwriter Geert Laenens in 2012, as the succesor of his previous band Newtown. Newtown had released a titleless EP in 2010 that was well received; it got good reviews and airplay on the national radio (Radio 1, MNM). With this EP Newtown performed as the support act of several international artists (The Stranglers, Throwing Muses, The Walkmen, Glasvegas) in renowned venues like Ancienne Belgique, De Roma, Trix, De Handelsbeurs and Mezz. In 2011 Newtown recorded and put out two new singles, which were produced by Serge Feys (Arno). One of these songs was selected for the soundtrack of the TV-show Solar Race on TMF.  A while later the members of the band changed, and so did the name: with Renton Jules they were ready for a fresh start. By the end of 2013 the band produced the EP 'How to catch a deer' on their own; Guy Fixen (producer/sound engineer of The Pixies and Throwing Muses) did the mixing. 'Are you ready', one of the tracks on this EP, was used for the TV-documentary Soundtrack on the Flemish channel Canvas.

In 2017 Renton Jules went on as a trio, playing concerts in more intimate settings. However, they are a full four-member band again since May 2018, when drummer Erik Heestermans joined. They are, right now, recording their debut album with songs about love and life, averse to trends and hypes.
