THIS IS A PARODY OF 80s SOCIAL AWARENESS FUNDRAISER SONGS

I've been singing these lyrics in my head (and my car) for over 30 years. They were written in 1993 for my senior thesis project, a satirical novel about a guy named Mark who starts a campaign to save a small grove of trees near his house. Shortly after meeting with the Deputy Secretary of Assigning Celebrities to Causes, and getting assigned an aging one-hit-wonder, it goes viral and spirals out of control. 

After winning a "Do Gooder" award at the novel's analog of the VMAs, he's taken to a recording studio where a number of the artists have gathered to record this song in the style of "We Are The World" and "Do They Know It's Christmas?" 

This song is written with its tongue planted firmly in its cheek and is INTENTIONALLY CHEESY.

I sang the lyrics to Suno and it hewed pretty close to the tune I've had in my head since I wrote them.
