Johnny Santo, believe it or not, was instigated by my love of the tune Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny.  I can't believe how far away from that track this tune is now but go figure, that's what inspired it.   All guitars - me, Tim Neal - Hammond B4 organ and Dave Sanders - drums.   Arranged, recorded, mixed and mastered here by me at Tone Ranger Studio.

GREG LYON & THE HIP OPERATION proudly announce the immediate release of their new album GROOVIN', featuring cool and funky sounds from of one of Australia's finest blues, soul & RnB bands. 

GREG LYON is one of Australia’s most experienced and versatile musicians. He has toured the world as bassist for the fusion band Crossfire,recording several acclaimed albums. He has also worked with greats like Jon Cleary,Jimmy Witherspoon, Elvin Bishop,Renee Geyer,Georgie Fame,Rodriguez and many others in the fields of jazz,blues,pop and rock. He has performed at major festivals and clubs around the world.

The new album GROOVIN’ features several of Greg’s original tunes as well as some seriously funky blues and a couple of classic songs from the 60’s, including the title track. The strong grooves and horn section drive the music along, and the great soloists, vocalists and guests add wonderful spice and colour to the music. 

The band is based in the creative hub of Byron Bay, Australia and features these fine players;

The HIP OPERATION are a musos band , and the album features many talented guests including the late Dave Ades on alto sax, Jojo Smith, Rick Fenn{10cc},slide master Kirk Lorange,and Kere Buchanan and Hamish Stuart.

GROOVIN’ was co-produced by Greg and Jim Kelly at  Tone Ranger Studios near Lismore NSW.
