Grey Meta presents The Whippings of Mass Distraction, the new 4 track EP from Technoist @The-Teknoist.

The EP features remixes by highly respected artists, @BenPest and @CocktailPartyEffectMusic, who have both contributed their unique spin to Miike's original tracks. Ben Pest's remix of Quest for Kenneth the Space Knife turns the more straight-kicking existing piece into a more swampy and groovy squat rave techno affair.

Whilst Cocktail Party Effect's remix of Causal Loop Paradox takes the
original's beautifully epic hang drum melodic element and runs with the musical idea, adding layers upon layers, where the end result builds to a frenzied energy that will leave listeners in a chaotic trance ...all while having zero drums. Sublime.

Miike cited Mary Anne Hobbs' BBC Radio 6 Music “Techno Tuesday” slot as an inspiration for The Whippings of Mass Distraction. In particular, the opening track, Causal Loop Paradox, which is a direct response to her much-loved and respected show.

Miike said “I can see and am actively filling a gap in the current techno sound, one in which I already exist in but intend to thrive in. I’m not making recreation pieces of pre-existing and already popular styles of techno. Instead, I am both influenced and incensed to create something new. A mutation of the existing themes, if you will. “Mutant Techno” if you are someone that insists on pigeonholing everything!”.

Miike has been a pioneer of hardcore techno and breakcore for over two decades under his moniker The Teknoist, but over the last few years he has focussed on, and released a considerable amount of more, what could be described as “more reasonable tempo techno and electronic music”, under his other moniker, Technoist. Throughout the years, as The Teknoist, Miike has released on record label titans such as Planet Mu, Ad Noiseam, Industrial Strength, Deathchant and Peace Off. As Technoist, he has been able to add Love Love, Industrial Strength's 'Hard Electronic' and even Leisure System to his list of outlets, all alongside his multiple own record labels, Ninja Columbo, Samurai Brylkream, Our Fucking Jungle and now his newest joint venture, Grey Meta.

In addition to his music career, Miike has always been a positive outspoken advocate for mental illness and health awareness. He uses his platforms and blog to raise awareness and break down the stigma around mental illness and health issues. He is a passionate spokesperson for people that live with Bipolar, ADHD, Autism and Schizophrenia, as he does himself.

"ILL WE'LL GET" is a 165BPM Hardcore Jungle banger to get that party started just right and "WUSSUPNOW" is a 190BPM Hardcore Amen Warfare slammer designed to murder that same dancefloor later in the night.

UK hardcore OG, Dolphin has concocted a BANGER of a remix for Reformulated. This rave-ridden jungle-infused hardcore flip of Anorak's original track is simply incredible, or to quote John Anorak "an absolute face melter"!

When not pummelling kickdrums and destroying dancefloors, Greg cohosts the superb Oblivion Underground Podcast with Joe ET, often dispensing invaluable music production advice to the scene's new blood.

We are super excited about him playing at Balter Festival this summer in a B2B2B hardcore techno extravaganza with Hellfish and The DJ Producer.

After many years, Deformer has proven to still amaze and reinvent themselves. Fans always await the next record, because you never know what to expect, other than that it’s most likely ear-shattering. This time again Deformer exceeded the expectations! The new crushing four track record entitled ‘Instruments of torture’, shows that Deformer still takes the lead when it comes to originality. Deformer has collaborated with some musical giants before and this time teamed up with Death Metal icon David Vincent (Vltimas, I Am Morbid), who previously shook up the music industry with Death Metal legends Morbid Angel. Featured on two tracks, David’s signature grunt goes hand in hand with Deformer’s musical carnage. This is not just groundbreaking, it’s legendary!

Deformer producer, Mike Redman, is considered a musical maniac, known to be an artistic freethinker and has never watered down the Deformer concept. Where its foundation is still Hardcore Jungle, Deformer has always added various music genres into the mix making Deformer a genre of its own, even before terms like ‘Breakcore’ existed. Many of the more popular names in the field acknowledge that Deformer has always been a great source of inspiration. Where David Vincent made a blueprint in Death Metal, Deformer definitely did that for Hardcore Jungle/Breakcore.
