This is my birthday gift to one of my biggest DJ heroes and big brother in music, Brooklyn's own DJ Clark Kent!  The tracks featured in this 2-hour-plus mix span close to 4 decades and highlight many of Clark's revered contributions to Hip Hop and R&B, as well as obscure remixes and productions from well-known artists and one-hit wonders. From the vintage 80s to the head nod 90s and what many people have dubbed the "jiggy era" of the 2000s, there aren't many DJs and producers who can say they've done it all for that long and continued to stay relevant throughout their careers. Let's not even talk about his brand ambassadorship and sneaker expertise, that's a whole other monster! (IYKYK) It's time to give this pioneer his flowers and recognize greatness! 2016 just saw another Legend pass away. Kashif Saleem, previously known as Michael Jones, was one of the most prolific producers in the 1980's, producing for acts such as Melba Moore, Evelyn Champagne King, Withney Houston, Howard Johnson and George Benson, just to name a few.

On a personal note, Kashif's music is the ultimate reason why I am the Dj that I aspire to be - the 1st time I heard "I Just Got To Have You (Lover Turn Me On) was one of the greatest musical discovery, if not the greatest, that I encountered - that Moog Bass, those guitar licks, that snare variation on the 8th, the arrangements, the lyrics. I was captivated. Forever. Today, I'm even more convinced that Kashif Changed My Life. Rest In Power Kashif Saleem.

For this week we're proud to introduce San Francisco based selector Mr. Big Happy of Parrish Council crew who I just had to invite after having my mind blown every day on IG thanks to his daily post series series showcasing 100 records from his collection which just came to an end last week. @bighappy has hand picked a few rare cuts, mostly on 45 from his personal collection to curate a 40 minute set of all b-side instrumentals and we're so excited to share it with you!

In the record collecting culture sharing rare music helps unearth forgotten gems that would otherwise stay forgotten.
