This one is very special ✨ I was booked for an evening set and had the opportunity to play a little heavier music than usual - and absolutely loved it!

I started out the set with a track that I've recently produced - 'Who We Are'. I ran out from behind the decks and performed with fire along side these fierce warrior women. The lady energy on stage (and in the crowd) was strong and really set the scene for the rest of the set.

This set travels through a variety of world bass music, starting with some organic house, and moves through some afro-house, latin-house, some pretty melodic tunes in the middle, and ends with some chunky bass!!! The crowd were stomping up a storm and so was I 🔥

A big thank you to Initiation Festival for creating such a deeply nourishing event. There was clearly a lot of love put into this festival and it was an honour to be a part of it.

The legendary Freak Power is back with “Chasing The Dollar,” an explosive funk-house track produced by our all-time favorite French duo, Prosper and Stabfinger, with the one-and-only Ashley Slater on vocals.

FYI, Freak Power was formed back in 1993, by Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim ,Ashley Slater and although their heyday was during the 90’s, they have continued to release the odd tune since then.
This is a remix of Chasing The Dollar from their EP ‘United State’ which was released in 2018.

My first ever ecstatic dance set, at Kona Ecstatic Dance Collective on 1.18.25.  Perfect way to start the year. The community has been super supportive and they brought stellar vibes and awesome energy to the dance floor that evening.  Feeling blessed to be part of this amazing fam.

Tribunion Boréal is a DIY anarchist festival run on the principles of the Free Party Movement. The venue was this surreal Gaudi-esque castle on the Atlantic Ocean in Gaspésie, about 8 hours from Montreal. It was powered by custom built sound systems. Everyone contributed their time to do shifts to run the festival. There were no passengers.

Crews from Mexico, France, Italy and Quebec came together to make it happen and collectively they are known as Quebec Dream Team. Big up to all the organizers, DJ's and Vjs!

I was deeply honored to be selected to do the festival closing set. The original plan was that it would be an hour long feel-good funky set. But everyone was having so much fun that the owner of the castle extended it and I played for almost four hours! It was magical mayhem! 

On average I mixed in a new song roughly every two and half minutes. I blazed though 68 songs during my set! It ran the gamut from slow dance to slam dance. I've never seen such a happy smiling mosh pit before ! 

Dozens of genres were sampled like Funk, Soul, Motown, Disco, Reggae, Rock, Metal, Samba, Salsa, Hip Hop and then glitched & remixed into Ghetto Funk, Latin Bass, Swing N Bass, Bass House, UK Garage, Drum N Bass and Jungle.

This is the perfect example of what my festival sets sound like....

TRIBUNION BORÉAL - Festival Closing Set by DJ GUAPO

Let your mind float away on a musical voyage to India. This World Beat mix blends classical & folk traditions like Raga & Bhangra with the deep sub bass of Dub Reggae, Downtempo vibes and Breakbeats.

Featuring exotic instruments like sarangi, sitar, tabla, dhol, bansuri, santur, doudouk, tamboura and production by artists like Suns of Arqa, Kaya Project, Masaladosa, Up Bustle & Out, Dzihan & Kamien, Thievery Corporation, Panjabi MC and M.I.A. As well as remixes of folk & pop songs from India, Punjab & Pakistan.

I made this mix in the Fall of 2021 to honor the life of the recently departed WADADA, the bandleader of world beat pioneers SUNS OF ARQA. They were the first to combine the music of India with dub reggae back in 1979. I joined the band in 2005 and contributed to many of their albums. This mix is a tribute to his legacy, the lasting impact of his influence on musical history. 

The mix was broadcast on my radio show GLOBAL GROOVES on web radio station LaFaceB.Live. 

On the Mixcloud charts it reached #11 in the world in BREAKBEAT, #29 in DUB and #43 in DOWNTEMPO. On Mixcloud's Canadian Charts it peaked at #1 on the DUB charts, #2 in CHILLOUT and #4 in WORLD MUSIC.

I had the absolute honor of playing at one of my favourite events, Phoenix Fire Convention, for the third year in a row.

Life’s been hard for a while, and a few days before the festival I lost an old friend, suddenly, by a freak accident. It's not fair. I was a mess while putting together the set, before letting myself trust myself and allowing my feelings to guide the second half of it live. I'm glad I did. During, I danced with joy, screamed in rage, laughed my heart out, and almost fell weeping in my grief. And I haven't felt that alive in a long time.

To those that resonated and felt with me, I saw you, and thank you forever.

From underground dance floors to global festival stages, GUAPO has built a solid reputation as a DJ, atmospheric guitarist and producer who thrives on the unexpected. With festival appearances spanning three continents, including Glastonbury (UK) and Telerama Dub Festival (Paris), his electrifying sets have earned him international recognition. 

His DJ mixes regularly chart in the global TOP 5 on Mixcloud, cementing a place in the world of Bass Music DJ's. GUAPO’s résumé boasts collaborations with Grammy Award winners like  Youth (Killing Joke, The Orb) and Juno Award winners like Alpha Yaya Diallo. As a Composer he was nominated for a Jutra Award for Best Film Score. 

As DJ & Music Coordinator for fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier’s PINKARNAVAL and Cirque Du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté's TERRAKARNAVAL, he played to crowds of over 15,000 spectators, fusing music and fashion into an unforgettable spectacle. 

As a producer & guitarist, he contributed to multiple albums by UK world-beat pioneers SUNS OF ARQA, blending global dub grooves, classical Indian Raga and cutting-edge electronic production.

As a co-founder of the Flamingo Funk crew, he’s shared the stage with Bass Music legends, closing after breakbeat heavyweight Krafty Kuts and Swing N Bass founder Mista Trick. Combined with his explosive festival-closing sets at Tribunion Boreal, Khumeia Festival, and the Buissonnière Stage at Good Vibes Festival, he is building a solid reputation as a closer.

In his hometown of Montreal, GUAPO has performed at some of the city's biggest events, including Montreal Jazz Fest, Bal en Blanc, Just For Laughs, Lumifest, Eclipse, Timeless, Groove & Bass, and marquee venues like Olympic Stadium, Rialto, Metropolis, Place Des Festivals and the Satosphere Dome. 

Guapo brings his genre-blending sound to the airwaves with two monthly radio shows. He’s a resident on CKUT 90.3 FM’s The Magic Roundabout, founded by influential Montreal DJ Andy Williams. The first Sunday of every month Guapo drops the latest in underground Bass Music sounds. 

Whereas on LaFaceB, he co-hosts Y Fait Chaud, offering monthly mixes that explore Afro Latin Brazilian House rhythms. Previously, he hosted the world music show Global Grooves and co-hosted Pépites, showcasing bass-driven sounds.

Musically, GUAPO is a sonic shapeshifter—his Bass Music sets are a wild tribute to sample culture, weaving together anthems from Funk, Soul, Blues, Reggae, Rock, Latin, Brazilian, Disco, Metal, Swing, and Hip-Hop.
