Guava returns to Control Freak with his longest EP, "The Dolphins are Back in Venice" - a fun comedy consisting of 4 dancers right for the club.

Since Control Freak release the EP ‘Lift’ in 2019, Guava has worked hard. After moving into Berlin (and number of releases) he return to the label with a new friend style and kept the songs happy the previous releases by shifting it focus to dance floor. - the-game in a clearly marked series.

As successful musician, Guava continuing explore the combination of analog and digital production and creative techniques by creating it's own guitar playing on recordings to incorporate human touch into his air production.

Another artist on the 3024 mentoring programme, Berlin-based DJ and producer Guava seeks inspiration from his friends and community for a stunning mix which opens blissfully with a selection of unreleased tracks from Pace Yourself and Guava himself. The session then builds into the a kaleidoscope of breaks-filled colour featuring tracks from Talik, ADG, Stenny, and 2 Bad Mice to name a few. 

Speaking about the mix, Guava says, “doing mixes is really interesting from my side as I come at it from a production perspective. Whenever I do mixes I tend to just use music that is written by my friends and my wider scene. As a result, I think musically, it’s such a advantage as you end up with a cohesive structure that exists and all cuts from the same cloth - yet still have enough variation in it for it to be interesting. It’s not me making an accolade about my own music, it’s just the way I select tracks, having stuff from my friends, my peers and my own music as well. My music is inspired by my peers. Sometimes when I’m stuck with when making my own music, a friend said to me why don’t you make a mix and you’ll have a better understanding of the music that moves you - no matter what genre or tempo. So this is kind of an insight into the process behind some of my productions.” 

In a few short years under the Guava alias, real name Bradley Hutchings, has released much-loved EPs on the likes of Holding Hands, Touch From A Distance, Breaka Recordings, Control Freak and Tread Records. This year, he made his debut on 3024, contributing to the second compilation series, ‘Everything Merged’, which features tracks all from producers on the mentoring programme. Aside from his work under Guava, Bradley is a session guitarist and composer, previously working as a touring musician with bands such as Malena Zavala and LION. This has led to performances at BBC Maida Vale, Hammersmith Apollo, The Roundhouse and Abbey Road Studio 2.

Guava returns to Faux Poly as the first artist to release a second EP on the label. Shifting gears into a faster, Techno-focused territory all whilst breaking up the EP with his immersive signature oscillating Dub-Techno-esque atmospherics. This new record is a departure from Afterglow, further embracing light and dark moods with a hypnotic intensity throughout that feels both urgent yet deeply considered.

This release opens a new chapter for Guava, as he embraces the weight and velocity of the dancefloor without sacrificing his signature playfulness. The result is a dynamic, high-energy follow-up that solidifies his evolving sound making ’All Out’ the perfect next step for both the artist and the label.

Words from Guava:

"This record was written in a flow state. For me, it was the most enjoyable EP I’ve made, and I think you can hear that in the music. It came about due to a slight shift in mindset regarding the creative process. I started by making an Ableton template as a way to limit my options. I spent a couple of days trying to nail a sound - referencing and experimenting with different instruments. I would then set a timer and “mess up” what I had created. The deal was that I could do anything I wanted.

This approach was a game-changer for me because it created a cohesive sound across all the tracks. A lot of my process was inspired by one of my heroes, Alexander Rodchenko, a photographer and graphic artist from the Soviet Union. What fascinated me most was the limitations he worked with - he didn’t have access to the fancy digital tools we use today. There was something about that constraint that I envied, and I wanted to bring a similar sense of restriction into my own creative process."
