Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of December by welcoming NuFects to the label for their debut EP. Conceptualized in 2013, Colombian artists Alejo Cortes and Carlos Lopez aka NuFects decided to undertake a project full of energy, joy, colour and intrigue. They started producing progressive and organic house under the name NuFects (short for The New Effect), quickly earning recognition from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Cid Inc, along with very important local talents Dabeat, Gux Jimenez and Kamilo Sanclemente, while legends like Paul Oakenfold and Solarstone playlisted their music. Now surpassing ten years of working together, NuFects takes another important step with their Movement Recordings debut 'Demons and Slayers', alongside remixes from Alan Cerra and Paul Deep (AR).

Beloved for her sleek, energetic brand of progressive house, NuFects dials in another beauty with 'Demons'. Warm, full grooves anchor the journey while layers of expertly manicured percussion, dulcet pianos and percolating synth lines add bounce and emotion leading into the break. Advancing further across the interlude, the duo works precise modulation in crafting a tension filled build, eventually peaking with prismatic colours as the groove drops for a thunderous finale. Meanwhile, the equally impressive 'Slayers' keeps the peaktime energy established by its predecessor. Big muscular grooves, crunchy rhythmic structures and wavy arps set the course for a profoundly emotional theme to emerge during a hugely memorable breakdown.

Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Demons' is Alan Cerra. Hailing from Argentina, Alan has achieved measurable success since first emerging in 2019. With a progressive sound that finds a perfect balance between melody and groove, genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, Hernan Cattaneo, Miss Monique, Tim Green and more have been steadfast supporters across his rise, while Juicebox Music, Hoomidaas, Mango Alley, Siona and YOMO Records have served as landing spots for some of the Argentine's most highly regarded work. With Alan's Movement Recordings debut 'Space Dive' landing in September, the Río Gallegos resident now returns to the label with a powerful take on 'Demons'. Beginning with a buoyant kick and galloping groove, the Argentinean artist channels the electric energy of the original through striking synth lines and percolating arps, before a break of dissonant synth blasts and crunchy melodica setup a thrilling peaktime finale.

The release concludes with Paul Deep making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Slayers'. With a career that spans the better part of a decade, the Argentinean artist has compiled an impressive resume along the way, landing releases via All Day I Dream, Tale and Tone and The Soundgarden. World class DJs Lee Burridge, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have all been steadfast supporters of Paul's sound, which often sits in the creative space between progressive and organic house. Now, following his latest vehicle for Proton Music, Paul makes his long overdue Movement Recordings debut with a huge rendition of 'Slayers'. Built around a thumping percussive framework, Paul focuses on rhythm and groove across the first act, nicely balanced with a healthy dose of arpeggiated sequences. Looking to bring greater emotional depth, the main break unveils a gorgeous primary theme, delicately dancing across dusty percussion and tension filled tones, as modulation peaks for a fiery finale.

PREMIERE: NuFects - Demons (Alan Cerra Remix) [MOVEMENT RECORDINGS]

An artist with a double century of production credits to his name, Gaston Ponte returns to Particles with his "Dark Side" EP. Responsible for an impressive body of work on the likes of Balkan Connection, Massive Harmony Records and Clinique Recordings, the Argentinean debuted on Particles in mid-2022 with his "Accelerated" EP. The title track is an immaculately crafted affair with dominant kick and percussive effects that jump out of the mix. A deft bassline sequence that pans the stereo spectrum and atmospheric pads create a subtle unease as "Dark Side" develops with a glorious melodic progression. Full of dancefloor energy, it evolves at the breakdown and into the second half with easy skill and poise. Full of dark intent, "Dexter" continues the melodic narrative of its partner track as immaculately cadenced motifs sit perfectly against a chunky rhythmic backdrop. Full of intelligently placed spot effects and club-friendly breakdown riser, the track erupts into the second half with huge growling bassline and beautifully sculpted arpeggio. Driving the track to its powerful conclusion, Gaston Ponte's skill and craftsmanship is in full evidence.

A name familiar to the Proton Music fanbase, Petar Dundov has carved out a reputation for distinctive and innovative production work from banks of analogue equipment operated out of his Zagreb studio. A veteran of Bedrock, DAYS like NIGHTS and microCastle, the Croatian's work for Proton Music and Particles has resulted in a raft of original tracks and remixes that include the "Salvation" and "Spark" EPs plus reworkings for Chihaka, Simos Tagias and Desaturate. The Petar Dundove remix of "Dark Side" is thus a dramatic and original interpretation with a trademark metronomic energy driven by relentless beat and woodblock infused percussive pattern. Intelligently using the main themes of the original, trademark arpeggiated patterns emerge before a uniquely cadenced new motif appears at the breakdown. Building once more into the second half, all elements combine to create a distinctive and highly impressive offering.

A relatively new artist to enter the underground dance arena, Hobin Rude has already found himself at the forefront of the progressive house scene with his work AH Digital, Future Avenue and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, since a June 2020 debut for I AM DIFFERENT. Now making his Particles debut, the Serbian artist has created a powerful rhythmic backdrop for his remix of "Dexter" that bristles with dark energy. A pulsating bassline adds to the sonic collage as the arpeggio central to the original, filters into range amidst fizzing white-noise swells and a panoply of effects that come to the fore at the mid-point. Building to a deep crescendo, the dense rhythmic foundation then enters the fray once more as the track seamlessly glides towards its conclusion.

Showcasing talent and technique in equal measure, Gaston Ponte reveals his "Dark Side" with help from Petar Dundov and Hobin Rude.

John Digweeds Bedrock label kicks off 2012 with yet another superb release from one of the standout electronic artists in the world today. Guy J is at the forefront of a movement towards the melody-rich and emotionally charged roots of the house music spectrum. Hes a young, innovative producer, DJ and live act, whose infectious production talents resulted in his amazing 3CD artist album (1000 Words) being acclaimed as one of the musical highlights of 2011. Now, three of the albums standout tracks have been remixed alongside a brand new track, to form the hottest package you could hope for to start the year in style.

Shining showcases the extraordinary talents of Guy J, from its beautifully subtle melodic intro, through a blossoming, journey-like arrangement with a highly emotive core, this is a masterful brand new track.

On 1000 Words as the mood moves towards deep, throbbing intensity, with lights down low, My Thought Of You turns up the energy levels and gets a little twisted, as Guy J pushes emotion buttons, exploring the psyche of the dance, exploring possibilities, forging ahead into the future. Which is a perfect starting point for Octopus label boss and Bedrock artist, Sian, to begin his audio experimentation on remix duty.

When you have interests ranging from cosmology and marine biology, to the social impact of the rave generation, you tend to make unusual art and Sian stands out as a little more bohemian than the average electronic talent. Adhering more to the avant-garde side of club culture, his tracks develop an otherworldly, and hypnotic slant on techno. His reworking of My Thought Of You is yet another exceptional example of creative genius at work.

The gorgeous, heavenly vocals of Miriam Vaga feature on 3 tracks on 1000 Words with Fly providing a stunning finale to CD1, an amazing collection of the more eclectic and experimental side of Guy Js music. The original version can only be described as a listening experience that has been heaven sent, so there was only one possible choice to remix such beauty.

Since they first burst onto the scene with the now classic album Wide Angle in 1999, Hybrid have been known as one of the most forward thinking and technically skilled acts in electronic dance music. Before hotfooting it over to Hollywood to work on the soundtrack for the new Terminator movie, they have made time to work their magic on Fly, and remixes dont come much bigger than this!

The heavenly atmospherics of Detroit techno bring 1000 Words to a close with the moody magnificence of Azimuth, which has been boldly taken into a new dimension by Bedrock remix competition winner, Kassey Voorn, from Athens, Greece.
