Made to Move was established in 2018 and its goal is to provide a positive space where underground DJs can play dance music, primarily house music, that the community can move to. Made to Move has organized over 80 events, including a monthly party in Chinatown. Folks can expect to dance, experience new music, and make friends.
We believe that house music parties should reflect history. Through our DJ bookings and care for our events, we try to provide a place where everyone can feel welcome and move together.

The purpose of the project is very much just to share a bit of one’s private music taste, particularly in the case of DJs who dedicate their lives to music but are only recognized for their “club music”. This will allow listeners to expand their music taste and get to know a different side to the DJs they follow, while giving DJs the chance to take a break from the music they rely on professionally in order to share a bit more of what makes up their personal musical taste/background.

I personally find that there’s more to DJs than what they are paid to play, or what they show on their social media accounts. I am curious about what they listen to when they are sad, what genres flooded their environments as they grew up, what influences helped shape their current musical knowledge and taste. Also, in times when AI is basically deciding people’s daily listening habits, I believe it wouldn’t hurt to offer some human curation.

Native to New York, musclecars is a DJ / Producer duo consisting of Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield. As musicians, they equally share an admiration for the art form. Their desire to blend genres and express their appreciation for music is focused around their community- the end goal is to bring people together. Through a regular stream of high quality mixes, they have begun to turn heads in underground circles. 

In 2018 they launched ‘Coloring Lessons’, a party that was aimed to add value to their city’s nightlife culture. While the party and sound is not genre specific, it is heavily focused around house, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their black and brown ancestors. The monthly party's intention is to bring New York City's dance music scene back to what it was during the golden era of NY nightlife. They aim to spread the music that has been influential to them, and share it with a younger generation of their peers.
