A vital force in New York’s DIY club underground, Sobolik’s music blurs the lines between many genres across the spectrum of dance music – but it’s their restless sense of rhythm and love of texture that truly defines their sound. Their productions carry a physicality and playfulness, full of offbeat details that turn club tracks into conversation pieces.

‘Prance’ is the first single from Superclásico Vol. 2, the second edition of Clasico’s annual Various Artists compilation collecting upfront club heat from across the globe.

With Applause V.A. Vol. 2, Matteo — founder and artistic director of the label — continues the curatorial work begun in 2023: “to capture a living and moving ecosystem,” at the intersection of local, diasporic, and international club scenes. This new compilation brings together a selection of emerging and established artists from Europe, Africa, and the diasporas, offering a sonic landscape that’s percussive, hybrid, and emotional. Artem, DJ Travella, Blck Mamba, Dariiofox, Lorkestra, Marge, and Hey Bony all showcase unique perspectives on contemporary club music — balancing raw intensity with rhythmic nuance.

Designed as much for DJ sets as for deeper listening, the compilation reflects Applause’s DNA: a curatorial and inclusive space, connecting underground communities, global aesthetics, and multifaceted identities. Among the standout moments, Leyka’s Beli—DJ and producer affiliated with Drama and Nuit Brune collectives—embodies that sense of freedom. Led by a baile funk- inspired vocal, the track fuses Bass Music, Jersey Club, and raw rhythms into a spontaneous, high-energy blend built for unrestrained movement on the dancefloor.

C’est dans la continuité de cette fusion des genres qu’est né le projet Side By Side : Reprendre les codes du rap, pour créer quelque chose de nouveau. Le processus se fait en plusieurs
étapes. Pura Pura récupère des boucles mélodiques de la part de différents beatmakers (Brodinski, Milanezie, Hyas…). Il utilise ensuite cette matière première pour tailler des instrumentaux répondant aux codes des musiques électroniques, avant d’inviter des artistes à y poser leur voix. Ces artistes pourraient être le line up d’un festival organisé par Pura Pura,
représentant toute la richesse et la diversité de la scène rap, et autant de facettes de la personnalité artistique de notre producteur. On y retrouve les figures les plus intéressantes
du rap francophone d’aujourd’hui : LeDouble, Mandyspie, Kaba, Creamy G, Ricky Bishop, Sadandsolo… Ainsi que deux incursions étrangères avec Ele A, tête montante de la trap
italienne, et ALL MY COUSINS, le plus excitant des collectifs ghanéens.

La création particulièrement collaborative de cet EP se ressent à l’écoute du projet. Chaque intervenant.e, beatmakers ou artistes, y a laissé son empreinte. Pourtant, c’est bien Pura
Pura le dénominateur commun. En tant que DJ, le club fait partie intégrante de son identité musicale. Le club, il le conçoit comme un lieu festif et euphorique. Mais aussi comme un lieu
de vie, reflet d’une société hétérogène aux influences multiples. La diversité fait ainsi l’essence de ce projet où se côtoient Side By Side (côte à côte), des univers, des sensibilités et des
styles musicaux différents.
