Today’s Delayed premiere comes from quite a few of our favorite people and it’s a joy to see their names together on a release. On Board Music label head, Laura BCR is debuting her wonderfully deep and nuanced sounds with SoHaSo. Her taste is impeccable, and it’s no surprise to see this release come to light under the Dutch label. Between her Rinse.fm radio show, compiling tracks for ‘The Meaning Of Time’ series, releasing DJ mixes, and production, it’s amazing to see the quality and attention to detail that never wavers.

5 Elements is the third of the five-track ‘Initial’ EP and a collaboration with the Buenos Aires-based Forest On Stasys. Signature off-kilter drums throughout the track provide a stark natural contrast to the wide-ranging synths and pads that give off a sense of foreboding, a calm before the storm to come.

This EP is an invitation to travel to South East Asia and visit its ancient temples. Through its entrancing and repetitive patterns, the emanating energy from each place will stay forever in our memories. 

Starting off in Takshang, Nepal, the underlying throat singing will slowly transcend through the listener and prepare him for a meditative state of mind.

Next stop is the sacred site of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. The faster pace and strong bass provide a more intense level of contemplation, where one’s sense of self is surrendered to life, nature and the past. 

Maintaining a high pace and hypnotic rhythm, Ranakpur’s softer tones and percussion take you across the Arvalli Range of Rajasthan to its spectacular temple, allowing a moment of tranquil reflection on recent experiences.

Ending the journey further East in Mongolia, Kan Bulak’s intensity comes from the multitude of musical layers which emerge throughout, implying a depth of spirituality, liberation, and emptiness - almost like nirvana.

Opposites coexist in an eternal loom that intertwines it all.
There is a magnetic energy, a sort of attraction between them that allows balance to exist.

We usually tend to see Nature and Machinery as opposites. But are they really?
There's undoubtedly a strong correlation between the evolution of one and the other and we can usually see machines & technology as another layer in Nature's realms.

Art & creations made through machines usually allow us to innerly explore diverse aspects of nature and understand them from another perspective. Many times music created using machines takes us to natural landscapes and helps us find inner connection with nature itself.
Whether they are opposites or not, we are strong believers that there is a potential balance within the coexistance of Nature and Machinery.

This dual compilation is intended to prove it.

In terms of the creative process for this album, I wanted to develop new production techniques using only field recordings recorded in my area with modular synthesis and effects pedals while altering the sound with tape recorders in some tracks to add an even more lively, organic and random touch.

The story I wish to tell is the initiatory journey of a man of spirituality, Milarepa who learned witchcraft in his youth and who for an ancient revenge used black magic against his enemies. But driven by remorse and purified by the trials of an old sage whose disciple he asks to become, he succeeds thanks to the teachings passed on to him and to his life as a hermit, in attaining awareness. His journey has inspired many people over the centuries and hopefully continues to inspire a generation seeking mysticism and hope today.

The other little story I had fun doing with the titles of these tracks is that you can read the 6 names in a row as if they were one sentence, as a summary of the stages of this man's life and also to reinforce the fact that the album is to be listened to in the intended order as it tells a story with an established chronology forming a coherent whole.
