My 1st experience with Ableton: A collage of my own and collaborational tracks. I made this selection for Radio 79's Trip radio station as I was their featured artist in february 2010. If you missed the show, are unfamiliar with the radio station or just want to hear it again and again and again... then here is your earflappingly stunning chance. Put on your Spacetribe speedos, decorate your dreadlocks with gooie glowsticks, press play and prepare yourself for some funky forest trance and twatbattingly trippy beats.

“ECT can have a beneficial effect and in some cases be life-saving. We are aware that some people experience short-term memory loss and other side effects, but as with any treatment the risks must be balanced against the benefits…

Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT), also known as electroshock, is a well-established, albeit controversial, psychiatric treatment in which seizures are electrically induced in anesthetized patients for therapeutic effect…

…or alternatively, it is the nom de plume of UK-based producer Leigh Griffiths, a survivor of the 90s London psychedelic party scene.

His early tunes, released on Phantasm and Psychic Deli Records in 1997-98, are now widely considered to be all-time classics of the genre, and indeed have sometimes been cited as an influence by the later generation of trance producers.

Subsequent releases – including the cult favourite ‘Pigmies’ collaborations with Mass (Afro-Celt Soundsystem) – also broke new ground… the whole point of the ECT project being to test all accepted boundaries of psychedelic dance music – rhythmically, sonically, whatever.

(… and to have a bit of a laugh along the way…)

Over the last eighteen years, Leigh has performed live and DJed his satirically warped brand of dirty psychedelia to discerning party crowds all over the world, and – despite being possibly the laziest producer in trance – occasionally manages to drag himself out of the pub for long enough to write fresh tunes.

In his autobiographical book ‘Electroboy’, American writer Andy Behrman describes undergoing ECT as a treatment for bipolar disorder while under house-arrest:

“I wake up thirty minutes later and think I am in a hotel in Acapulco.
My head feels as if I have just downed a frozen margarita too quickly.
My jaws and limbs ache.
But I am elated.”

A trip down memory lane. Recorded in december 2011, while living by the Norwegian Atlantic coast. Winter darkness, constant fog and aggressive winds - my cure was studio time, tropical fungi and these joooozy froots.

So here is the 2nd instalment in the vinyl only mix series I'm doing. For this one, I made a mix with records that had a big part in influencing a lot of what you hear on my debut album 'Airport Vultures' that was out recently on Intec.  It covers some of the early influences on me as a DJ such as tracks by Circulation and MR G and then later tracks that influenced me as I developed my own production sound and style - Aril Brikha, Joey Beltram and Laurent Garnier....

Some amazing tracks on this, imo, hope you guys enjoy it too!
