Nicholas “Pumpkin” Alvarado is your new favorite music producer/DJ. His spot-on song selections, special remixes and original productions have made for unforgettable live sets that seamlessly span every genre and eschew the latest trends in favor of timeless melodies that will leave a ginormous smile plastered across your face.

Whether starting the party or closing it down, Pumpkin’s inspired mixes are always lovingly sequenced and aim to set the perfect mood. He’s played alongside fellow acclaimed house music mainstays like Lee Burridge, Justin Martin, Nick Warren and KCRW’s Jeremy Sole as well as progressive electronic music pioneers like Bluetech, Blockhead, EOTO and The Glitch Mob. Pumpkin has become an in-demand, fan-favorite at major music festivals like Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle and Sea of Dreams, where he closed the event after his musical hero, Trentemoller. Pumpkin’s acclaimed debut EP, “Love Letters,” featured collaborations with singer Katie Mowgli of the breakout band, The Mowglis and lyricist, EVeryman along with his sought after remixes from the likes of Florence + The Machine and Lila Rose.

He’s been part of the esteemed Pocket Underground family since 2006, when after playing in rock bands all his life, he found a new passion in the hypnotic rhythms of deep house music. Pumpkin honed his now signature sound by daring to incorporate the singer-songwriter, punk rock ethos and childhood nostalgia of his past, with the futuristic sounds of the present.

In everything he touches, Pumpkin’s colorful personality shines through and he loves nothing more than to have fun with his audience as his remixes for the likes Peter Gabriel, David Bowie and The Muppets will attest to. But whether you catch Pumpkin playing at a massive festival, packed club, underground warehouse party or a special sunrise set, you’ll never have more fun on a danceloor. Simply put, this is music to fall in love to.

I have been playing records since 1986. I play almost anything and everything. 

Started Playing clubs back in San Diego, Palm Springs and L.A in the late 80's.
I moved to San Francisco in 1996 and played every Thursday at Minna Street Gallery from 96 - 01.
I have played in just about every club from Amsterdam to London to S.F to L.A, until  2013 when my wife and I moved to Yucca Valley to finish adding to my Record Collection. After 25 years behind the decks, J.Phlip still hasn't figured out how to crush the art of pretending she's doing something when she's not-so she just keeps busy actually mixing. She has built her rep on fearless, genre-melting sets packed with bass, acid, punk-electro, bootytech-whatever she damn well pleases. She flips the script-and sometimes the bird-as easily as she flips from 4/4 kicks to breakbeats, taking you on a sonic joyride with zero regard for speed limits. A founding Dirtybird original since 2006, J.Phlip didn't just help shape the label's sound-she nurtured its ride-or-die community, fiercely protecting its scrappy, open-hearted ethos. From the legendary SF Golden Gate BBQs to building Dirtybird Campout from the dirt up, she's been central to one of dance music's boldest and most beloved collectives. She's lit up everything from Movement Detroit to EDC, Fabric London to Space Ibiza, Coachella to your grandma's basement.

But screw the industry name game - sometimes Jess just wants to jump rope like it's middle school. She'll show up with ropes at festivals and kick off a Double Dutch session open to anyone. Her favorite spot is the Friendship cruise where shes backed by her East Bay ride-or-dies, the Twerkaholicz. Their booty-powered madness nearly broke Dirtybird Campout as they rolled in on a gold-plated "Twerkulator" bus, after J.
Phlip herself brought them into the flock in 2019. At Outside Lands, they co-created a show so far outside the box of today's "Dance Music / DJ culture" it shoved it off the rails - colliding fast-BPM beats, ass-jiggling acrobatics, and pure absurdity into a crowd-screaming blowout. Treefort in Boise got it! - the dancefloor snapped into two hours of unfiltered mosh-raving. Jess isn't here for your sunny-day vibes or safe dance moves. After far too many lost years-dragging herself through pandemic fallout-she's back to start some shit.

I’ve always had a passion for music and love to sing. I started playing records in 2004, and have had the honor of playing as a member of the illustrious Space Cowboys and the all female collective, Angels of bAss for many years, making appearances at clubs, festivals, renegades and everything in between. My punk rock/industrial roots show through in my love of bass heavy Breakbeats, and Bass/Tech/Future House.

Rising out of the 90's Drum 'n Bass scene in San Francisco, Smoove quickly became a fixture on the underground Breakz circuit in 2001 DJ'ing with Space Cowboys and their mighty Unimog. These days his signature power-funk Breakz sound can be heard every weekend all over San Francisco's night life, from underground warehouse parties to his residencies at The End Up, 1015 and Mighty. All his hard work in the night club trenches has earned him membership in nitevibe.com's DJ Dream Team since 2004 and was voted Best DJ 2008 by the readers of the S.F. Bay Guardian in their annual "Best of the Bay" issue. Taking his sound to the airwaves, Smoove has been featured on XM Satellite Radio’s Thump Funk show (XM 80) as well as Below Zero on Energy 92.7 and was a frequent guest on Future Breaks on KUSF. Currently, he can be heard on Fog City Funk every Wednesday night at 8pm PST on Nu Skool Breaks Radio (nsbradio.co.uk) In 2004 he, along with Donna Matrix, started publishing the underground magazine NewsBreakz and more recently launched NBz 2.0 (newsbreakz.com) the on-line version in late 2008. Simply put, Smoove is one of the quintessential taste makers in the San Francisco Breakz scene today and can always be relied on to bring a big party fun sound that makes the crowd go giddy on the dance floor.
