This piece of music in inspired by vocal samples of overtone singing, coming from asian monks. Having combined these samples with western music elements, such as rhythm, harmonies and meldodies, the result is a piece of music, which is difficult to stick into a musical box. So let´s call it just „music“...

This piece of music took quite a long time to produce. There were always little parts in it, which did not completely satisfy me. But now it is done at least. While composing and producing this piece of music, i often had pictures of the sea, sitting on the beach and looking to the endless horizon in my mind. Just A Little Song

Strange

This piece of music is a combination of classical instruments such as flute, piano, guitar, strings and brass with jazz elements such as double bass, drums - and of course - short parts of improvisation on the piano. For me it is impossible to pigeonhole this kind of music. Because this kind of music for me is a mixture of many different music styles, i simply decided to name it "World Music". Time To Change

This song was inspired by the sound of a railway station in N.Y. - maybe the song is a metaphor for life, starting with a simple motif, which develops over the time with regard to melody, rhythm, complexity, loudness and so on. Then the climax comes and - suddenly it´s finished. Although there is a short comeback of the motif, but after a final crescendo - like the last flare up of a fire - it´s definitely finished. My heroes of those times were Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Billy Cobham, Jan Hammer, Chick Corea, Terje Rypdal and so on. Those times were really good times. East Bay

This song was inspired by Dapher Youssef, a musician from Tunesia. He is playing an instrument called oud, which ist an oriental lute. I combined it with an nigerian percussion instrument called udu and handclaps. I chose a 7/4 rhythm, to make it sound a little unusual to western ears. That were the basic decisions and from that moment on all went quite natural for me in composing this song. At the end it was really quite difficult for me to find a right balance in mixing this song. On one hand the rather percussive elements of orient and Nigeria and on the other hand  the remaining more western instruments. Nevertheless i hope, you will enjoy it!

Dhafer

Afer having passed the „Abitur“ (Germany university entrance qualification) i began to study music with the emphasis on composition in Berlin. Before that and during the academic studies i already started to compose for theaters, ballet companies, radio dramas, advertising etc. Later i began to compose for motion pictures in german television. Apart from that i worked with several jazz bands touring Germany and several countries in europe.
About 1990 when the impact of globalization began to influence the music business very dramatically, i decided to quit music business and startet a new career in the financial sector. Today i´m working as a fund manager.
Nevertheless music still belongs to my life like the air to breeze. My small but nice music studio is still there and is waiting for me every weekend. Because i don´t have to earn money with my music, i can compose and produce music without any commercial pressure. And as a composer beyond the mainstream i can promise you: this is really living in luxury..!
And still i´m really happy, when people like my music. Keep on groovin´
