This one’s been years in the making — literally. I started Breakthroughs over 3 years ago and just couldn’t give up on it. Something in me knew it had to be finished, but the mix and arrangement were never quite there… until now.

I’m proud to say this is the final version. It feels complete. It feels right.
And I hope it connects with you in your own way.

The title Breakthroughs comes from a very personal place — a chapter of my life where I took some big steps, faced heavy challenges, but came out on the other side with a new perspective. These moments cracked something open in me, and I wanted to reflect that in the music.

You’ll also hear some spoken word samples — real stories of people who died and came back, sharing messages from “the other side.” Those accounts stuck with me, and I felt compelled to include them. Maybe something in it resonates with you too.

I’ve recently started finishing tracks much faster — some in 4 hours, others in a few days — and I’m excited to share those soon. They’re clubbier, dirtier, more underground… but for now, here’s Breakthroughs, exactly as it was meant to be.

P.S. The cover art is a photo I took with my phone during a moment of peace while DJing on a cruise ship. Felt fitting to pair it with this release.

After a year that will go down in the Glitterbox history books, five previously unreleased mixes that have soundtracked the label’s parties in 2019 get a special outing on part one of new series Glitterbox Jams. This red-hot delivery features the sought-after Catz ‘n Dogz remix of Fiorious’ ‘I’m Not Defeated’, where the Polish duo re-work this powerful call-to-resistance anthem into a synth-laden club cut. Also on the release is Mighty Mouse’s gloriously funky remix of Qwestlife’s ‘Hit It Off’, where the powerhouse vocals of Teni Tinks really shine. Qwestlife Featuring Teni Tinks - Hit It Off (Mighty Mouse Remix)

After the tragic passing of Philippe Zdar last summer, Ed Banger and Glitterbox Recordings came together to release the final collaborative Cassius production. With the blessing of Hubert Boombass and Philippe’s family, the labels released a special vinyl only edition of their remix of Fiorious ‘I’m Not Defeated’. A record that captures the energy of historical protest songs, the special edition release was limited to just 2000 pressings, however will now be available digitally for the first time. Described by Fiorious as “an inspiring eight-minute tour de force and the most bittersweet gift to all of us,” the release was met with critical acclaim, Resident Advisor describing the mix as, “the kind that will seduce any dancefloor.” Speaking of the record, Ed Banger founder Pedro Winter said “Zdar played me the remix while we were heading to the last gig we would ever played together. He knew he and Boombass had delivered a banging remix. The original song was already one of the strongest of the year and adding Cassius’ powerful groove, hypnotic drums and these unifying chords would make this remix an instant classic.”
