Welcome to Dark Sessions. In our fifteenth episode we present a special guest from Brazil. This is Nicolas Vloger. He is fascination for music stretches back far into his childhood. Born and raised in Londrina, southern Brazil, his musical journey first manifested itself in an admiration for punk and rock n’ roll, which inspired him in his early years to learn guitar. As a teenager, he discovered electronic music through underground parties, nurturing a passion for techno that has only grown over the years.
Inspired by the dirty rawness of old school techno and the hypnotic vibes of more contemporary tracks, Nicolas Vogler decided to pursue his newfound passion by DJing at small events in his hometown. Today, he is a producer, gaining renown through his own personal label NCLS as well as through recent releases on groove-focused techno labels such as Syxt Berlin, Drawner records, Malör Records, ESP Collective, Hemisferio Barcelona and Secession. Played by techno DJs worldwide, Nicolas’ tracks can be found in mixes by notable artists such as Setaoc Mass, Ben Sims, Arkan, Norman Nodge, Insolate, Temudo, and many others.

manu abeca is a 26-year-old musician from Argentina, inspired by a deep desire to mix and music that evokes strong emotions. From an early age, he has been fully engaged with music, gaining a wide range of experiences and a varied musical background.

Manu's relationship with music was further strengthened when he moved to Berlin in 2019. There, he discovered his characteristic sound: harmonious compositions, breaky grooves and hypnotic sounds. He is a resident DJ and curator for the music label and collective Balls Baile, in addition to his own creative pursuits, and lately has been focusing on music production, using his voice as an element to create deep and captivating melodies. The last track of this mix is an edit in which he shows that.

For Madrid-based artist Reptile, techno music is a combination of our ancestral instincts, and the most rational part of our brains . Themes of introspection, technical proficiency, and percussive excitement  are present in his work. Reptile resonates with the notion of  keeping the mind and body in a locked groove. Hoping to evoke a hypnotic euphoria.

For this particular mix, Reptile takes the listener on a trip reflecting said values. We invite you to explore and enjoy these concepts within. The ever growing Madrid contemporary techno scene is in safe hands. We look forward to witnessing its inevitable progression within the coming years.

With roots tracing back to Surinam, Dan's musical philosophy centers on a deep appreciation for flawless percussion and the ability to create and sustain a dynamic ambiance on the dancefloor.

Having played at various renowned venues such as HAL 25,  Club BASIS, and Now & Wow, Dan had the opportunity to explore different styles & time slots, shaping his current extensive and diverse musical knowledge, which reflects a diversity beyond the confines of a single genre.

Get to know KSO12, a sincere presence in the Swiss techno scene. After a year of curating playlists at home, she transitioned to releasing mixtapes and performed in front of diverse audiences. From winning the Seedj contest in Amsterdam to securing a spot at Italy's PHASE 2 Festival, each highlight has been surreal. Recognized as a local female DJ, KSO12 values musical diversity, creating a unique and authentic atmosphere solely focused on mixing.

In her mix, KSO12 weaves a hypnotic beginning, blending tracks to create a call-and-response dynamic. The journey evolves into Detroit Techno in the second part, and in the end, she merges both concepts with subgenres. Enjoy the immersive journey.

I am Cheyenne Loen, who embarked on my DJ journey in 2023, though my encounter with techno began in 2016. My festival debut also took place in 2023, at the paardenrave stage during the Blijdorp Festival. Despite my limited experience, I was given the opportunity to share my passion. Nowadays, my focus lies mainly on crafting podcasts and honing sets at home, aiming to return to the stage with even greater knowledge and skills. The set I’ve curated for you features tracks from producers I greatly admire, with rhythmic, tempo, dark, and minimal beats.

With a special focus on the classic sounds of the Roland 303, 808 and 909, combined with modern synthesizers from Korg and Roland, Vainberg creates a timeless sound that combines tradition and innovation.
