Helter (@heltermusic) has stomped his way onto the scene with little more than a name and a track back in January; however, when strong enough there's not much else that's needed. Today we’re highlighting another spellbinder from Helter’s upcoming and self-released debut. “Realtime” finds itself residing in the 5 spot of this release, though don’t let that deter from its stunning quality. “Realtime” makes use of a melodic, hearty bassline, fluttering tonal washes and truly rolling percussion to whisk listeners to a fuzzy headspace full of muted hues. It’s distorted pads and haunting, yet fleeting vocal stabs place this number squarely between the clouds and the dancefloor, perhaps even bringing them together to create a unique atmosphere, both grounded and soaring. Today's premiere comes on Lost Palms, a side imprint from underground stalwart @shallnotfade. Lost Palms is set to release "Goin Good," an EP by Salt Mines co-founder and lo-fi techno practitioner @Rudolf-C --- and, true to the imprint's name, it sounds literally as if it's aimlessly wandering a beautiful desert island, with nothing more than the sun in it's face and the breeze in its hair.

The cut is "Da Mind Da Body Da Soul", the A1 on this project. Dusty snares and halcyon pads fill the spectrum as the track begins to gather steam, slowly sprinkling in low-end pulses and flutters of a vocal sample that help give the cut it's overarching shape. After a short breakdown that makes room for a pummelling bass line and crisp hats, the full presence returns to soak listeners in a truly balmy, and stomping affair.

Tracks like this don't necessarily carry the weight to bring the house down at peak time; on the contrary, it's the type of tune that can catalyze a dance floor early on to move away from the stresses of daily life, and to pivot fully into the aural journey ahead. This one is without question for da mind, da body, and da soul.

Since the release of L I F E - L I N E, I've been working towards the next step in Zone Focus' progression as a music brand. I wanted to bring together artist's new and old to a new various artist compilation, this time focusing on compiling similar sounds into a 5 track album. DJ Psychiatre, Vantane and No_4mat make up the foundations of the ZF family with three great dusty house tracks. New to Zone Focus are DJ Whipr Snipr and VHS, who each bring their own personal styles to the table. Compositions Vol.1 is the first in a set of albums with Vol.2 being released in a months time.
