This month's guest mix comes from the talented young composer, pianist, and label owner Sergio Diaz De Rojas @bonjoursergio.  With releases on famed labels like 7K!, Sonder House, or Deutsche Grammophon, as well as an impressive output on his very own Piano & Coffee Records, this Peruvian musician is taking the world by storm. He prepared a mellow, delicate, and intricate journey alongside an insightful interview for us.

Reduced is a new series that strips sound back to its most transcendental, restorative and atmospheric textures to block out the noise and aid focus, attunement and relaxation. Each one will be paired with a mental health charity and be accompanied by an interview focussed on self-care. The combination of all three will create an evolving resource of knowledge and experience that provides solace, inspiration, reassurance and company in difficult times.

Paired charities: BLAM UK and Beyond Stigmas, two Black-owned mental health charities working with people of colour, and The Black Cultural Archives - the only national heritage centre in the UK that focuses on Black British history.

the natural satellite of the earth, visible (chiefly at night) by reflected light from the sun.

'Luna' is a tribute to my grandmother, who passed away 8 years ago - 5th September 2012. To this day she is still one of the most influential and supportive individuals I have met in my life. Regardless of what I did, she always encouraged me to pursue my goals and dreams. I think (and hope) she would be proud of the person I am today. 

The last time I saw her, she couldn't even remember who I was. It was a bittersweet ending to a beautiful era, filled with many wonderful little moments. Losing her made me realize just how important every small interaction with the people we love can be. Everything can be taken away from us in seconds. 

The memory of her will live inside of me forever. 

Until we meet again.

It features pieces from some of my favorite albums of 2018, as well as some oldies by Otto A. Totland, Vargkvint, and Lambert. I highly recommend the latest releases by Shida Shahabi, Federico Durand, and Endless Melancholy -the best of the year, in my opinion- and the debuts by Josh Alexander, Klangriket and Steven Doman -artists we should keep an eye out for. The mix begins with soft piano and synths, passing through Federico Durand's guitar, Ulises Conti's chamber music and Lavalu's beautiful vocals, and ends with some captivating electronic music. Even though it was created to enjoy the warm spring days in Peru, it will nicely fit the European winter. 

Sergio Díaz De Rojas is a Peruvian pianist and composer, and the creative director of piano and coffee and its imprint, piano and coffee records. His upcoming release, December 03 (Reworked), came out 03.12.18 on limited edition cassette, featuring reworks by Ceeys, Matt Emery, Elskavon, and Jakob Lindhagen.

"This was the first time I created a playlist, and it was a beautiful experience, very similar to that of composing. Suddenly I had all the music of the world to choose from and come to only one hour of music. I selected composers that inspire me and bring me joy and introspection. Legendary musicians such as Terry Riley and Dino Saluzzi, and close teachers and friends such as Cesar Lerner and Laura Masotto. Music from Argentina, where I was born and raised, music with African and Indian background, places where I learned a different way of inhabiting music, and music from Spain which is my home today. About The Mix:
"This mix contains a collection of pieces by artists from all over the world, from my hometown Australia to Mongolia to Iceland. I wanted to acknowledge pioneers like Sigur Ros and Nils Frahm in the ambient/modern classical world that have influenced me in the past as well as emerging acts like Alistair Sung and BPMoore that inspire me today. As a composer for film/TV/advertising, I also wanted to share artists I've discovered through movies and TV such as Nicholas Britell, Colin Stetson, Roomful of Teeth. Hearing Roomful of Teeth live at St Giles Church (Barbican) in 2018 was one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
