It was an infatuation with electronic music from a young age that sparked the beginning of Nick Berry’s DJ career in the Sydney scene back in 2014. Since then, Berry has made a name for himself through his acute deviation from what is expected, playing uniquely melodic music punctuated by an eclectic mix of deep house and techno  - influenced by the early years of dance music. Fast forward to present day and Berry has shared lineups with Âme, DJ Koze, Jimi Jules, Trikk, The Drifter, Oliver Koletzki, Andhim, Super Flu, Gerd Janson, David Mayer and Panthera Krause to name a few. During the stagnant year of 2020, he maintained his divergence from the conventional when he founded Anomaly alongside Harry Hooper and Milly Lees. The brand is a cultivation of deep electronic music paired with finely curated graphic design to help listeners navigate through the beautiful obscurities of electronic melodies. in 3 short years, Anomaly has hosted takeover parties at some of the best venues around the world, including Sisyphos in Berlin, Electric Bar in Melbourne and a Secret Warehouse Party in Sydney. The brand has released a multitude of radio shows from a selection of fiercely talented international artists; Musumeci, Argia, Santiago Garcia, Andhim, Reznik, Invōker, Matthias Meyer, David Mayer, Armonica, Murat Uncuoglu, Alican, Aaaron, Stereo MC's, Super Flu and others. The mixes showcase the respective style of each DJ, while contributing to the surreality that is Anomaly. The music is complemented by the dynamic visuals of Leipzig talent - Panthera Krause. Stemming from a young age Joel's passion and involvement with music, mixing & dancing has been a staple part of life.
Long following the underground scene, and a decade of involvement and love ￼later, he’s taking the journey to the next level.

Recently playing for many local promoters/party's in his hometown with big selecta's such as Rossi, Eats Everything, Chris Stussy, Fabe, Pach, Madvilla, Wheats, Suat and Soul Divide. ￼ 
Local spots such as The Spinnaker Tower, The Astoria, Moonshine Club, and South Parade Pier are some of the spaces he’s got to entice the crowd in & down into a journey of his sounds.

That being said, Bouncy Deep Tech with strong rolly baselines are favourite choices he loves to play for the dance’ providing an array of powerful bass driven tracks with swingy drums and stabby chords.
Plus with the occasional use of dubby Urban/Grime remix's and acapellas blended in his sets, Joel's experimental side is commonly at hand to add something different yet familiar.

The journey into nights behind the decks is one that makes him feel at home.

The Black Light Disco show airs exclusively on the #1 house music station on the planet - myhouseradio.fm. Tune in every Monday from 2pm-4pm EST, 7pm-4pm GMT, 8pm-10pm CET. 

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
