In case you’re wondering why the track is called what it is then I cannot tell a lie. it’s all Gordon’s fault.  I was having an email conversation with him about life, the universe and everything when, for no reason I could easily glean at the time, he said “I’ve got to go and walk to Asda in the fog". I wasn’t sure if he meant he could only walk to Asda if there was fog or that he just needed a walk in the fog and Asda was as welcoming a place to go as anywhere else or, more simply, that he had to get some groceries and Asda was the nearest and most convenient place to go in such inclement weather. Whatever the reason, my immediate thought was “What a great title for a song…”.

There’s certainly no shortage of songs about Covid-19 but I just couldn’t resist the temptation Gord had inadvertently sent my way to vent some of my Covid frustrations.  If you chance to read the lyrics and aren’t from the UK, I should explain that all of the words in capital letters are the names of UK supermarket chain stores.  You may also be wondering why I mentioned the Royal Yacht so, for those of you that hadn’t heard, our wonderful government, in the midst of the pandemic and the financial constraints it was placing on the country, announced that it was commissioning the building of a new one at a cost of somewhere around 200 million pounds.  Isn’t it good to know they have their fingers firmly on the pulse of public spending at times like these?

For some time now, Gal and myself have wanted to work on a track with both Gord and Arkestar and for many reasons, this particular song seemed to lend itself really well to the idea.  We’d therefore both like to thank them for lending their unrelentingly brilliant skills and commitment to the entire project and for making it such a complete pleasure to work on. I always love it when my good friend and bandmate Pat Howell sends me his latest mandolin musing, this time with his Octave.  His musing becomes my "muse" and the ideas start to flow, this time using two mandolins and two guitars. Texas Highlands (Pat Howell; Mandolins, David Dunham; Guitars)

Written by Paul McCartney and released near the end of the band’s existence on the Let It Be album in 1970, something made Craig try it out for our own style. It was a live home recording and we liked it. Nat then took it and added her magic harmonies and piano to pretty it up so nicely. Made it a very much more straight forward country folk sound with the accent on the lovely lyrics.

This track was inspired by the work of Delia Derbyshire who pioneered electronic music at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in the 1960s(She was responsible for the Dr. Who theme music). Delia is the female voice on this track taken from an interview in 1997. Most of the track also includes the sampling of her Deliaphonica Game.

Missing Time: A Song of Praise

I was honored when https://soundcloud.com/graphicsontelevisions asked me to remake ‘Tattlesnakes’ from their fantastic album ‘Pun’. Maybe it’s the wildest one, unpredictable but coherent, it inspired me immediately !!

I've remixed to my taste their original studio stems (drums & keyboards), adding my own vocals, guitars & more... hard recommendation of headphones again !!

Lyrics are from another of my ancient poems, where I played with oxytone & eproparoxytone rhymes (translated below but with lost effect in English).
