This is a cassette tape recording of the Latvian electronic dance music radioshow "Defekts". This particular emission was dedicated to Latvian Beat - DIY dance music phenomenon comprising tracks of Latvian DJs, musicians and MCs created circa 1989-1993. Most of these tracks were based on reel-tape edits overdubbed with rapping or singing.  Latvian Beat reel-tape compilations were made and circulated mostly among DJs at the time. Eventually, some of these tracks ended up in the compilation "Latvian Beat" put together by Uģis Kārkliņš aka MC Uncle U and released by Microphone Records in 1993. https://www.discogs.com/release/9248971-Various-Latvian-Beat

The radioshow "Defekts" was hosted by Latvian DJs AG and Raitis and aired on SuperFM 1998-2005.

Heincha (aka neon b.) has been a purveyor of fine and groovy dance music since the mid 90′s, growing up and getting into DJ-ing simultaneously with explosion of the rave scene in Latvia. Since that time his journey into the world of dance music has led him through such stylistic benchmarks as Detroit, techno, minimal, deep- and tech-house, funk, breaks, electroclash among others. Currently Heincha’s is up to deep and cosmic yet funky vibes - be that disco, house, techno, acid or 80's synth music. Sometimes he prefers taking a rather eclectic path, considering that all the technical categories become meaningless in front of music that evokes emotional or intellectual response.
Although Heincha currently resides in Luxemburg, he still has strong ties with the electronic dance music scene in Latvia and can be regularly seen DJing there. Apart from digging and mixing up other producers' records, Heincha enjoys making his own rhythms and beats. He is also a writing contributor to various indie culture and music magazines.

Yoot Digme (formerly known as Cute) is Latvian deejay and promoter dedicating his spare time (outside of engineering job) to music and scene strengthening for 24 years officially.
This guy was responsible for bringing such acts to Riga, Latvia as: 813, Complexion, Mosca, Anushka (Brownswood), Nuage and Lokiboi.
Having played in some years 50+ gigs per year, guy got really tired of this (you know all those stories of exhausted touring artists).
Nowadays Yoot Digme runs 2manypromoters, composes mixtapes and playlists for broader audience, learns to play piano and produces Future Beats when there’s a right moment for it.

I also started to run the SoulJedi show with one of the best, or simply the best Latvian selectors. Watchable on YouTube.
